The error code 50 indicates a paper jam condition. Whether there's actually still paper jammed or not, it's sensors are still indicating a jam. Check again for a bit of paper, or there may be a faulty sensor.

I have a brother mfc-420cn. I am getting a unable to clean messa

Do you mean "unable to clean"?If it this follow this instruction.
Unplug the printer from power cord.Press and hold the "menu" button, then plug the device. You'll see on the LCD screen a "machine error" code.If this code is 40,41 or 4F the print head is defective. If the error is 50 or 51 there is error in Purge unit and printer require service. If the error is 46 the waste ink tank is full.Follow this:Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If numberis over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.This will reset the purge count value. Then restart the printer, hopefully without the annoying cannot clean message.

Want to print pictures from camera card.

I received my Brother printer today (11/5). I also go mine mainly for the scanner because my Visioneer 9320 doesn't have any drivers for VISTA, and Visioneer isn't making any updates.

My camra uses a SD card. This is how I got mine to print pictures.

I place my SD card into the printer
I then press the PHOTO CAPTURE button The display on the printer reads CONNECTING TO PC

Then the display reads PRESS (up arrow or down arrow) & OK
When you press the up or down arrow, the display will read PRINT IMAGES or PRINT INDEX

I selected PRINT INDEX and then you have to press the OK BUTTON
The printer display then will ask 6 images per line or 5 images per line.
You pick what you want then you hit the OK button.

Don't forget to put the photo paper in the tray, upside down.

Hopes this helps
