SOURCE: 3 wire oven with 2 wire source

Your new oven utilizes 220 volts, but it also has some 110 volt features that need a neutral to work properly. Your old oven was wired without the neutral, probably when the house was built. There are 2 answers to your question. #1, no you should have an isolated neutral or common (same thing) wire, so it should have one. #2, if you connect the white on the new oven to the ground wire it will work. The neutral wires are all connected to the grounds at the breaker panel. Look at it if you don't believe me. The ground is there as a safety to you. if you connect the neutral (the white wire on the new oven to ground) you will be eliminating the safety feature on that appliance. So, I do not recommend you connect the white wire on your new oven to the ground wire out of the wall. But if you do it will work, you will just not have any back up protection if there ever is a problem with the electrical on that appliance. I hope this wasn't too confusing, the answer is you will need to wire the oven properly by adding another wire if you want to be completely safe and within electrical codes.

SOURCE: oven won't light

Tip - do not change the safety valve first even if the ignitor seem "ok" if you gently tap the safety valve and the flame comes on initially but fails to come on after awhile after each"tapping" - the ignitor is the most likely culprit

Oven will not light ,broiler and top of range light fine

the ignitor is not working its bad,you should see a bright orange glow below the oven base just as when you start the broiler look up at the top of the oven and watch this ignitor glow before ignition, the bottom should do the same, you can also see this from the back side of the range at the base,if you don't use the broiler you can use that ignitor for the oven ignitor as these ignitors are identical, but then you will have no broiler

My gas oven (Frigidaire Gallery) is not preheating or coming up to temperature. The broiler and stove top burners work fine.

Most probable cause is a weak bake burner ignitor,if you can remove the floor of the oven and see a orange glow but within one minute thier is no flame the ignitor that glows is weak and needs to be replaced,if no glow at all ,if your capable find the 2 wires to the bake ignitor, using a volt meter set to AC volts there should be 120vac to the ignitor. If their is 120 vac and absolutly no glow the ignitor is cracked and needs to be replaced,if their is not 120 vac it could be the gas safety valve or control

I have a frigidaire gas oven Model Number FGF366ECC. The oven does not get hot.

9 times out of 10 the oven ignitor is the problem see if the ignitor glows when you turn the oven on it should be a bright yellow glow and not a dingy orange glow if it does not glow at all the ignitor could be burned out

Magic chef self ignitor top,, how do u get the oven to work.. is it self ignite too. i turn on oven ger a glow in the oven,, dont know the model ,,older stove. good shape. bought house with gas stove...

If the glow bar is glowing and the oven doesn't come on in about 30 - 45 seconds.... it probably is the glow bar that needs to be replaced. BUT it could be the oven valve. Usually it is the glow bar.
The glow bar is wired in series with the oven valve and even if it is glowing it may not be sending the correct voltage through to the oven valve. To change the glowbar... unplug the appliance, unscrew 2 screws holding the metal bracket to the burner and remove the ignitor. You can cut the 2 white wires going to the ignitor and use ceramic wire nuts with the new ignitor.

Our glow bar lights up when gas oven is turned on, then the gas comes out, but it takes a long time to lite the gas resulting in an explosion inside the oven. Or with too much gas filling up the kitchen....

Typically the issue here is a weak glow bar (hot surface ignitor). When they weaken they open the gas valve slowly and it takes a bit for the ignitor to light up the oven burner.

It is a safe bet that you need to replace it.

I have frigidaire gas free standing oven range. When I press BAKE and set the temperature, the preheat and oven lights both lit on the display and I can see the ignitor red but no flame.

If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor.
Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265;
rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.

Good luck!

LOOKS LIKE NO GAS TO OVEN. GLOW STICK LIGHTS IS YELLOW-BROILER LIGHTS...GLOW STICK SAME COLOR AS OVEN'S

You need a new thermostat for the oven. It isn't picking up the heat from the ignitor. They're relatively cheap and easy to replace.
