Newly installed garage door opener won't go up completely

I've completed installation of my garage door opener and it works but does not do up all the way and I've adjusted the open function as far as it will go. It's about a foot short of full open. What should I do next?

If the springs were broke, it would not go up that high. It would only go up about a 6 inches and stop or strip out the gears. Either your limits are set too low, which means you would need to go through the programing functions again. It could also be the force setting, which again means you would need to go through the programing functions again. The only other thing that would cause that is that you bought a 7 foot opener for an 8 foot door. Post a photo's and I could help you more.

Sounds like the receiver in your opener has quit working. Unless you break in you need to call a door technician. They can drill a hole in the door, use a special tool to pull the manual release and open the door. You should then have them install a keyed manual release if this ever happens again. They can also repair or replace your opener.

Craftsman 139.53626SR goes down only if I continue pressing the wall unit until it is completely closed. I've tried adjusting the down force. Going up is not a problem. Any idea what's wrong?

Most likely your door sensors are out of alignment. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a little. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have bad sensors.
