I am traveling and cannot connect to certain WIFII connections.

Why can I connect to Taco Bell WIFII and not McDonalds, Wendy's, nor the public library in the same general area. I can connect at a UPS/FEDX store which requires a password. I get a strong internet signal, but cannot get on the internet. I have performed troubleshooting and reset network adapter, turned computer off & removed battery, reset factory settings, etc. Nothing works. Office depot checked my computer and everything checked out good. I was told Norton antivirus is not compatible with Vista and that I should be running MaAfee. I have used this computer all over the world to get on WIFII and never had a problem until now. What is the problem?

Why not ask them,
or other around you obviously using that.

try to know, that each place you go they have rules.
there are less wide open ad hoc networks now.
do to folks doing ******* things there and the owner can be liable.

first is range, its a weak radio, and if too far it cant work
or is slow.
you will need a password to get in. in most places here.
at 1 air port, its password
and my other air port ,they let you in PW free, but you must sign a page that tell them you dont break the rules
that filters all your cruising, (has huge blocking of vast URL)
that is the way of the future, blocks, rules and sign in PW.
at one air port the password is on all vertical pillar in the air port.
clear as day.
UPS requires and account, all do. l get one, use it.
unless doing tracking blind. sure.

again next time at XRAY (a store, or whatever)
ask them, learn to talk, walk to the counter, and say
can i use your wifi, and how do I
they will say , the SSID, the SSID is the wifi broadcasted name.
you click that and enter a pasword

most places do not run AD HOC now, sorry, but those days are shinking fast, the golden days of no rules. are over.

SOURCE: HP laptop Pavilion DV 4000 Password

First, DON'T SHORT ANYTHING ELSE OUT!
Now, tell me how one sets a bios password, then just forgets it?
If you can prove ownership on a laptop as new as a DV4000, there are plenty of posts out there describing the proceedure for recovering the system. Occasionally even HP will helpout legitimate owners in situations such as this.
I'm sorry, but this isn't the forum for this particular problem.
Good luck

SOURCE: Java problem using pogo games

This issue is caused by the security software on the computer. Most security software have features like AD blocking and Script blocking which causes this problem.
You can try turning off this feature in the security software. Alternatively there are couple of things that can be done.
For IE 6, goto tools manage add-ons and disable all the items except the ones which have the name Java or Flash or Sun Microsystems or Adobe.
For IE7, goto Tools - Advanced tab and click on the Reset button.
Or goto Tools – Programs tab – Click “Manage addons” and do the same as above.

What's the cost if I exit the Tulsa turnpike traveling west at mc donalds but reenter traveling east

If you're talking about the big McDonalds that goes over the turnpike, you can't legally do that. In fact, you probably can't physically do it, either, since there is no road connection between them, probably to keep people from doing exactly that.

In the kitchen I have replaced the light sockets a double inside the the main entrance & a single switch by the utility room the double switch controls the lights under the units & the main light,...

can't quite make out the question, but feel your fear-o-stick.

You have 3 way switch.
So 2 different switches control same light(s)
If this is true, then wires are reversed on one switch or the other, or both switches are wrong.

I've been there.
Copy following links to see illustration of typical 3-way switch wiring, and then lets do some testing.
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/GE-15312-3-way-circuit-600.jpg
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-switches.html#3-way

Each 3-way switch has 3 screws (plus green ground screw)
We are not going to discuss the green ground screw.
Each 3-way switch has a 'common' screw. And two traveler screws.

Th common screw should be different color than other two screws.
Or there is a marking on back of device that denotes 'common.'
Please note your common screws.

Disconnect all wires from both switches.
Separate wires for testing.
Turn power ON.
Tape wood sticks to tester so hands are away from power.
Stand on dry surface or boards. Never stand on bare ground.
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/GFCI-protection-2-402.jpg

Power is ON. All 3 switch wires are separated on both switches, so you have 6 total wires to test.
Test each wire to bare ground wire.
One and only one wire will test for live power to ground.
This is Hot wire, and it will connect to 'common' screw.
Other two wires will connect to two traveler screws.
Switch #1 is done.

Turn power ON again. Three wires are still separated on second switch.
At second switch, test each wire to bare ground. Note which wire shows power. This is a traveler wire.
Go back to first switch and flip the switch other direction.
Repeat test at second switch. Note which wire shows power. This is also a traveller wire.
There should be 2 traveler wires.
Connect these two wires to the screws that are NOT common.
Other wire connects to 'common' screw.

I have a Packard Bell EasyNote TH36. The laptop won't boot up. It's stuck on the purple Packard Bell page, I cant access BIOS and I can't click F12 - When I do it just freezes on the boot

make sure that your RAM and Cmos battery have dust free secure seatings

some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions SATA

the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

graphics card is seated properly with no dust in the socket you might have to remove it to check for dust

a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and to its continue its cycle and to have and end to function

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure make sure the connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty
a computer needs all electric current and computer data to travel to and through every working device and have an end to work properly click start right click on my computer so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

How do i excess the connect to the net with my syvania 7 inch netbook when i am eatng at mcdonalds? STARR

You will need to double left click the "pc" on the lower right task bar. It probably has 2 right ))'s that are red next to it.

Select and click on the far right tab that probably says "Wireless Information". It will display a box that that after a pause will show you all the Wifi's you have previously connected to as well as all the ones that are currently available. You are looking for "ATTWIFI" select it and click on the "connect" button. Follow the prompts. Eventually you should get a "status" message that says connected to ATTWIFI. You can confirm that by clicking on the IP Information tab. If all the fields are filled in and the "IP Address" doesn't start with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx then you are connected.

When you startup the IE browser it will take you to a "login" page for McDonalds.

I had bought an ipad wifii and a new mtnl wifii connection last week. My mac could connect to the wifii network seamlessly, but am facing problems with ipad connectivity. Ipad could connect with the...

there were some random wifi issues with ipads early on but the most recent updates through itunes have corrected those. So best thing would be to connect to your computer and make sure its updated. if that doesn't work, may be a range issue, they dont have the longest reception.
