Why can I connect to Taco Bell WIFII and not McDonalds, Wendy's, nor the public library in the same general area. I can connect at a UPS/FEDX store which requires a password. I get a strong internet signal, but cannot get on the internet. I have performed troubleshooting and reset network adapter, turned computer off & removed battery, reset factory settings, etc. Nothing works. Office depot checked my computer and everything checked out good. I was told Norton antivirus is not compatible with Vista and that I should be running MaAfee. I have used this computer all over the world to get on WIFII and never had a problem until now. What is the problem?
Why not ask them,
or other around you obviously using that.
try to know, that each place you go they have rules.
there are less wide open ad hoc networks now.
do to folks doing ******* things there and the owner can be liable.
first is range, its a weak radio, and if too far it cant work
or is slow.
you will need a password to get in. in most places here.
at 1 air port, its password
and my other air port ,they let you in PW free, but you must sign a page that tell them you dont break the rules
that filters all your cruising, (has huge blocking of vast URL)
that is the way of the future, blocks, rules and sign in PW.
at one air port the password is on all vertical pillar in the air port.
clear as day.
UPS requires and account, all do. l get one, use it.
unless doing tracking blind. sure.
again next time at XRAY (a store, or whatever)
ask them, learn to talk, walk to the counter, and say
can i use your wifi, and how do I
they will say , the SSID, the SSID is the wifi broadcasted name.
you click that and enter a pasword
most places do not run AD HOC now, sorry, but those days are shinking fast, the golden days of no rules. are over.

First, DON'T SHORT ANYTHING ELSE OUT!
Now, tell me how one sets a bios password, then just forgets it?
If you can prove ownership on a laptop as new as a DV4000, there are plenty of posts out there describing the proceedure for recovering the system. Occasionally even HP will helpout legitimate owners in situations such as this.
I'm sorry, but this isn't the forum for this particular problem.
Good luck
SOURCE: Wrong battery detected.
Went to hp.com, downloaded latest BIOS update, rebooted, didn't fix problem. Now what?
Thanks.
SOURCE: Huge Problems With Laptop

I believed that you already tried your best. However, I have this suggestion, try to reformat your laptop and do it all over. But make sure that you have all your drivers and OS with you!
Perhaps, you have missed something! believe me, I had the same problem as yours. Good luck! take care!
SOURCE: Java problem using pogo games
This issue is caused by the security software on the computer. Most security software have features like AD blocking and Script blocking which causes this problem.
You can try turning off this feature in the security software. Alternatively there are couple of things that can be done.
For IE 6, goto tools manage add-ons and disable all the items except the ones which have the name Java or Flash or Sun Microsystems or Adobe.
For IE7, goto Tools - Advanced tab and click on the Reset button.
Or goto Tools – Programs tab – Click “Manage addons” and do the same as above.
Let me know if this helps
make sure that your RAM and Cmos battery have dust free secure seatings
some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions SATA
the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
graphics card is seated properly with no dust in the socket you might have to remove it to check for dust
a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and to its continue its cycle and to have and end to function
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure make sure the connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty
a computer needs all electric current and computer data to travel to and through every working device and have an end to work properly click start right click on my computer so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
