I have an LG DLE1310W dryer. It stopped heating, everything else works it just won't heat. I have replaced the heating element and all the thermostats. Does anyone have any idea what would cause it not...
do you have a meter?if not you'll need one,you have to check the parts for continuity, very easy to do,unplug the dryer, say your want to check the heating element, set your meter to say 20k ohms, you should see a 1 one the meter, touch the leads together and now the 1 should go away,if so your meter is working, now find the two wires going to the heater, you have to remove at least one of the wires when doing this or both but at least one has to be removed, now touch your leads to both sides of the element,if the 1 stays there the heater is open or bad,any other reading eccept the 1 the part is good.do this to all the thermostats, pull at least one wire off and check them this is the only way to tell so you don't change out good parts,i would check the t-stats on the heater box and the thermal fuse,if the parts check good you either have a bad computer board or a bad motor, also first thing to check is on the back of the dryer where the cord is connected, set the meter to volts, make sure you have 240 volts coming into the dryer, you'll see three wires in the back, the middle is neutral then you have a red on one side and a black on the other, the dryer doesn't have to be running just plugged in,put one lead on the center white and then the other to one of the other wires, you should have 120 volts, then check the other side you should have 120 there,if not you have a fuse problem and the dryer is fine.most of the time when thid happens it's the high limit thermostat on the heater box, either the duct that the lint filter slides into is blocked with lint or the vent line is blocked, they pop when the dryer rund to hot i think over 300 degrees so if you find the problem clean the dryer and blow out the vent line with a leaf blower, make sure you don't have a cage or anything blocking the outside vent.hope this helps.
