Yes, it is possible to replace CD, DVD with DVD+RW on Tecra M1. Generally, it is possible to upgrade optical drive on almost all the laptops.

What type of card (USB, etc.) ? Is it designed for your laptop ?

Please provide the brand and model of card.

If your current device is CD-RW/DVD-ROM, then any CD-RW/DVD-RW device that you can purchase will _physically_ replace and will fit into the space occupied by your current device.

I'm very late to your question, but the problem is that this drive doesn't burn DVDs (i.e., it was not designed to do that). It's a CD-RW, DVD-ROM (read only).

Hi, I have had the same problem for the past two weeks now. I have changed the hard drive and ram. Still no good, much investigation told me to upgrade the bios. Did that. Still no good. Finally I burnt a disk of the original, I received from Toshiba. Worked like a charm. Apparently the paper on disk is too heavy for the dvd rom. Will be a cheaper option then changing hdds.
