IPhone 2G hangs at "slide to unlock" - restore not helping

IPhone 2G, 8GB
Firmware 2.2
iTunes used 8.0.1
Jailbreak tool: QuickPwn 2.2.1

Ever so often (once every few hours after the phone has been idle), when I try to "slide to unlock" the phone, it hangs (gets stuck without unlocking). The screen seems frozen.

If it leave it as it is for quite a while (3-5 minutes), the phone reboots itself! If not, I have to hard reset it/reboot it to get it out of it. Sometimes, the hard reboot causes the phone to get stuck at the Apple logo during boot.

I've restored it several times. The problem hasn't gone away.

Any suggestions on what I can do besides tossing it against a brick wall?

Does anyone have any experience of this going away if I restore it to firmware v1.1.4 and then jailbreak it?

TIA.
my apple iphone with firmware 1.1.4 and capacity 8gb got hang and i could not restore while appearing apple logo can any one help me pls

2g solution

3g solution

if it still gives you problems then you have a hardware issue, apple won't touch a jailbroken iphone so hopfully you have the apple care protection. Restore it to factory settings and try to take it in for service.

Got unlocked iphone, tried to restore factory settings now its stuck on bitten pineapple...any help plz just got this phone?

Hi,
Here u can follow the steps

Step 1: Make sure you have downloaded the latest version of iTunes if you haven’t already. Download iTunes 8.2 from the link given below.
Step 2: Now connect your iPhone with your PC. You must connect it to a single usb port on the backside of your computer. Do not use any usb hub or the ports in the front as this could cause an error during update process.
Step 3: Start iTunes 8.2. Sync your iPhone with your PC so that iTunes backs-up all your important data including settings, apps, music, contacts and photos.
Step 4: You will now have to download a custom cooked firmware for your iPhone version (2G or 3G). I can’t post the download links for these files for the reasons you all know very well. Just Google “iPhone 2G Custom 3.0” (If you are using iPhone 2G) or “iPhone 3G Custom 3.0” (If you are using iPhone 3G) and use one of the torrent links to download the custom created .ipsw file.
Step 5: Once you have downloaded the required .ipsw file, Copy/Paste it into this location:
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\” (Windows 7)
“C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates\” (Windows Vista)
“C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Update\” (Windows XP)
Step 6: Restart iTunes. You will now be prompted to install this firmware you just download. Just close this prompt dialog by clicking on “x” from the top right-most corner of the window.

Step 7: Now you will have to restore your iPhone to this custom firmware 3.0 that you just downloaded. Click on your phone from the sidebar in iTunes to get to this screen as shown in the screenshot below:
capture2_thumb.png
Now press and hold left “Shift” button on the keyboard and then click on “Restore” (Not “Update) button in the iTunes and then release the “Shift” button.

This will make iTunes prompt you to select the location for your downloaded custom firmware 3.0. Select the downloaded .ipsw file and click on “Open”.
Step 8: Now sit back and enjoy as iTunes does the rest for you. This will involve a series of automated steps some of which are highlighted below:
asd.pngafasf.pngggg.png
Don’t do anything silly at this point. Just wait while iTunes installs the new firmware 3.0 on your iPhone. Your iPhone screen at this point will be showing a progress bar indicating installation progress. After the installation is done, iPhone will restart automatically and you should now have a fully unlocked and jailbroken iPhone 2G. iPhone 3G on the hand will only be jailbroken, not unlocked. iPhone 3G users will have to wait for Dev-Team to release ultrasn0w on Cydia in order to unlock their phones.
Step 9: Once you are done with the unlocking and jailbreak process. You can now restore all your settings, apps, music, contacts and photos to the newly installed firmware version 3.0 by restoring the backup that you made in Step 3 from iTunes.

Feel free to ask me any question here should you run into any problem during the update process.

IPhone won't do anything!

Before you connect your iPhone or iTouch to iTunes.
Try and put the device into DFU Mode.
Plug your USB cord into your Device and Not into your computer.
Turn the Phone all the way off by holding the power button until the Red Bar appears and Slide it off..
Hold the "Home" Button Down for 5 seconds.
Then Push and Hold the "Power" Button while still holding the "Home" button and count to 7
Let go of the "Power" button while still holding the "Home" Button and Hold the Home button for approx 26 seconds.
The screen may or may not go blank with lines. No Worries!! now plug the USB into the computer with iTunes open. If the iphone is in DFU mode, iTunes will come up with a popup that says, "Itunes has detected an iPhone that is in recovery mode. Your must restore it"
Once this occurs, you can restore your device with any firmware by pressing "SHIFT" on your keyboard and "Clicking" Restore with your Mouse. Restore your device and let it mount to itunes.
If you are unlocking the device, I would suggest using "QuickPwn" you can get it HERE
You can download Apple iPhone Firmware HERE, when using quickpwn you will need to upgrade your firmware to 1,2_ 2.2_5G77...NOT 2.2.1
(TIP: Don't restore your iphone with custom firmware in iTunes. Restore with the original Firmware and Unlock or Jailbreak letting Quickpwn make the custom firmware....Also if you have a 3G do not ungrade in itunes to the 2.2.1 firmware, it changes the phone modem baseband and renders it "NOT" unlockable)

Error 16xx

I would suggest reseotring it once more and trying to use quickpwn again. If it fails you may alternatively want to use Winpwn, it basically does the same thing.

IPhone 2G hangs at "slide to unlock" - restore not helping

I have an iphone that does this at times too! I have to reboot it periodicly, seems more often when I use it a lot. I have found several issues with winterboard and plugins for it to cause some of my problems. might try changing your screen to normal and see if it still acts this way.

Iphone

Hi,

two questions:
1. Do you use Mac or PC??
2. What version is your Iphone on now? 2.2?

Dont worry as of today ANY iphone on ANY version can be unlocked.

Im pretty sure that Ziphone is not uptodate anymore.
I recommend Pwnagetool or Quickpwn to unlock/jailbreak current versions of Iphone software.
