I purchased and installed the hp officejetJ3640 all-in-one recently. I had an issue with my computer and 2 days ago, restored my computer to a previous date. I then lost my hp software that had been installed. I have made several attempts to re-install the software, but am unalbe to successfully do so. I will get a message that states the feature that you are trying to use is on a network that is unavailable. Click ok to try again or choose an alternate path from a folder containing the installation package 'HPUpdate.msi' in the box below. I can sometimes get past this point, and get it halfway installed then a Fatal error message will appear stating it cannot remove a previous scan. I really need to get this figured out and installed promptly! Please help I get the same "the path to HP update.msi "cannot be found while reinstalling my HP printer after having issues with the orignal installation of my HP 6400 series printer.

Searching for a program by typing it in the start menu no longer brings up the program.

It is quite possible that while you were 'mucking' around, you may have changed some setting that should have remained unchanged.

Rather than trying to figure out & undo everything you've done, I'd recommend restoring your computer to a previous point in time (using System Restore) to before it was 'broken'.

To get into System Restore:
1) go into the Win 7 Control Panel,
2) click System,
3) click System Protection,
4) click System Protection tab,
5) click System Restore.
6) select an appropriate Restore Point.

Cannot boot up windows xp or do system recovery

It's easy Megan, just chill, lol!

Look at the back of the computer next to the Windows product key, or up on the side of the computer tower, for the white Service Tag.
In the tag write down what it states next to S/N.

This is the Serial Number.

(DO NOT post on here. Only give to an authorized HP representative)

Now contact HP Support, and ask for the Restoration Disk.
(HP bought out Compaq a long time ago)

In the USA the disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

In the US call 1-800-474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

Outside the US use HP Support Worldwide,

http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

When you get the disk, turn your computer on, and put the disk in the optical drive's tray. (CD/DVD drive)
When asked choose Repair. (Non-Destructive Installation)

Hey i recently purchased this laptop from a friend it moves so slow i want to reset it to factory i dont have a clue how can u help?

To go back to when the laptop came from the factory Joe, requires the Restoration Disk. (Or a fresh, new genuine copy of Windows)

The Restoration Disk (CD) is installed into the optical drive, with the laptop on, and Windows fully loaded.
When asked, choose Full Installation. (Destructive Installation)

If you do not have the Restoration Disk;

In the USA the disk is free. The shipping and handling is not.
$17 for a 3 to 5 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.
Call the toll-free number 1-800-474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Have the Serial Number written down, and handy. It is on the Bottom of the laptop, in a white Service Tag. S/N = Serial Number
(P/N = Product Number. HP's model number)

For other countries use HP Support Worldwide,

http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/support.html

Also;
1) Make sure your Java is up to date. Go to www.java.com
Download, and install the latest version of Java.

2) Make sure your Adobe Flash Player is up to date.

[ System Restore only takes you back so far, IF, there is a Restore Point. Does not go back to day 1 when it came from the factory, unless the laptop is very new ]

I have a Compaq Presario SR1610NX Desktop PC and I am having problems restoring it back to original factory settings. Can I please get some help on how to get it back to factory settings.

Back to factory settings requires the Restoration Disk. (CD disk)

Turn the computer on, install the Restoration Disk in your optical drive, (Either one), and wait for the disk to boot up.

Once you come to the question of, "What do you wish to do; Non-Destructive Restoration, or Destructive Restoration, choose Destructive Restoration.

(Non-Destructive Restoration is Repair.
Destructive Restoration is a Full Installation )

After you click on your choice follow the instructions.
Takes an average of 35 to 45 minutes.

Don't have the Restoration Disk?
You can obtain it from HP Support. (HP bought out Compaq)
The disk/s are free. The shipping and handling is not.

$17 for a 5 to 7 day ship, $24 for a 2 to 3 day ship.

In the USA the phone number to call them is toll free.
(Big deal if you have unlimited service, or a cell phone, huh?
I just included this info anyway)

1-800-474-6836
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
(I called this number to verify it's a working number, and the procedure is still the same, about 2 months ago. It's a working number. No charges are involved)

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact/phone_assist.html

For HP Support phone numbers not in the USA,

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html

You will need your Serial Number, (S/N), to give to the nice representative on the phone.
This is either on the back of your computer tower, or up on the side of the tower.
It's in the white Service Tag.

If you have questions please post in a Comment.
Would appreciate hearing how this came out.

I m having hp530 set with windows xp sp3, but i can't play any audio file and even when i connecting it to network system cant recieve any packets(via ethernet). plz solve my problem.

Hi,

If you encounter the problem recently, like 2 days ago. I recommend to run a system restore on your computer. You may restore it to a working date.

1. Click Start --- Programs ----Accessories ---System tools---System Restore.

If it doesn't work check if the drivers are installed properly.

Just got to Start , right click on My computer, click Manage. Look for Device Manager. Under device manager, you will see a list of you system driver. If you see a yellow exclamation or a question mark on the list then the driver was not installed or could be corrupted. If that's the case, you need to reinstall the drivers.

Keep me posted.

Thanks
