DVD player connection

There are composite to RF modulators that can be used to connect the DVD player to the TV. This, https://www.amazon.com/CIMPLE-CO-Composite-Converter-Modulator/dp/B06XC9Y3VB , is one example. If you want to switch between antenna (or ATSC converter box RF output) and the DVD player, you might need an A/B antenna switch with some modulator models.

Usually DVD players have either composite or component video out (unless you are using HDMI connections). That means you need three or five RCA plugs connected between the devices.

The usual pattern when using a receiver would be to connect the Red/White RCA cables between the receiver and the DVD player audio out. Then connect the Yellow (composite) or Red, Green, and Blue (Pb, Pr, Y component) video cables between the TV and the DVD player. Make sure the connections match at each end; with component video, it can be easy to mix them up. Not all receivers have composite or component video outputs available to the TV. The Composite video will go to the yellow connector at Video In 1 on the TV. The Component video would go to Component In 1 or 2.

Since you don't mention the model of the receiver or how that is connected to the TV, I can't be sure why you have no video. If you have an HDMI connection between the TV and the receiver, the receiver won't convert the signal from composite/component video to HDMI.

The alternative method of connecting everything would be to connect the DVD player to the TV (both the audio and video), then use the optical digital audio connection from the TV to the receiver or to a digital to analog audio converter and then to the receiver.

How do you have the DVD player connected to the TV? My dvd player has component video out; when I accidently swapped the green and blue RCA inputs, I had no video but the audio was fine.

Thus, check your cables and make sure that they are all connected to the matching input and output. You may want to try a different cable, in case one of the wires is damaged.

How is the DVD player connected to the TV? If you are using component video, check that the cables are connected correctly.

If you switch the order on two of the cables, the black and white result is common. So double-check that the red, blue and green connections (RPbPy) have been connected to both devices in the same order. Next try a different set of component video cables, in case one of the wires is damaged.

If possible, try a different type of connection to rule out a damaged input/output. Connect the TV to a different DVD player or the DVD player to another TV, if possible, to rule out similar damage.

Which model DVD player do you have? How are you connected to the TV and what model Dynex is it?

On some older TVs, you can select AV (composite) video in by going down in the channel list past channel 2. Other TVs have several inputs (composite, component or HDMI). For those, you need to press an input or source button and advance to the input on the TV that you have connected to the player to watch the DVD. Some TVs have this button on the TV; all have it on the remote. If you do not have the original remote, you will need one with a button that can match the feature. It may take searching through all of the Dynex codes for the universal remote to enable the feature (other codes may do the basic TV functions).

There are a few TVs where you can change the source from the On-screen Menu system but those are less common.

I assume that you are dealing with a TV with only one input of a given type. Depending on which input you are sharing, get an appropriate switch (Composite video, component video or HDMI). How are you connecting the devices to the TV? Which inputs do you have available on the front, back, or side of the TV?

Firstly, please make sure you have connected the SCART cable correctly. This should be connected to a SCART OUT socket on the DVD player to one of the SCART IN or EXT sockets on the rear of the TV.

If you have correctly connected the SCART cable the TV should automatically switch to the AV channel when you switch the DVD player power on or insert a disc.

Switch your TV on, then switch the DVD player off and then on again. If the TV does not change to the AV channel you may have the SCART cable connected incorrectly.

Not all TVs automatically switch to the AV channel when the AV device is switched on. On some TVs the AV input is on channel 0 or 99. On other TVs the AV input is not assigned to a specific channel. On these TVs you need to look for a button marked "AV", "INPUT" or "SOURCE" - either on the TV remote or on the buttons on the front of the TV. The easiest way to do this is to insert a disk into the DVD player and start it playing. Then press the "AV" "INPUT" or "SOURCE" button (whichever one you have) repeatedly until you find the signal from the DVD player.

Please check your connections and try using the "AV" "INPUT" or "SOURCE" buttons. If you are still unable to watch your DVD player, please post back with the following information:

1. Model number of the Bush TV
2. Brand and model number of the DVD player
3. If you are using any remote other than the ones supplied with the TV or DVD player, the brand and model number of the remote.

I will then be able to tell you exactly how it should be connected and which buttons (if any) you need to press to access the AV channel.

The connection you use will depend on the TV. For the best picture, connect component video cables (not included) from the DVD player's output (to the right of the other jacks on the back of the unit) to the component video in of the TV. Then connect the Right and Left audio from output 1 to the appropriate audio input of the TV. (These may vary depending on the TV and other devices connected to the TV. They might be audio 1 or part of a group with the component video inputs.)

Otherwise you can use an S-video cable connection and the separate audio cable or the composite video cable (which has 1 yellow RCA plug for video and 2 others (red and white) for audio). Connect these from the output of the player to the matching input ports of the TV.

For TVs with only RF in, you need a composite video to RF modulator (converter). See a store like Radio Shack for this.

maybe your connection is wrong,look at back of your dvd player and find the yellow socket and that's a video the red and white is for the sound. using the color coding connect your dvd to tv, be sure that the terminal that you use is audio/video input
