Replace the broken belts or failed motor.

Motor is OK but most probably the rubber belt has perished. You should get the full kit of belts. Try ebay.

Yes, they ALL operate with drive belts, which can break, or become stretched. Check that the spool holders move freely, before going into the mechanism.

Is the tape moving? If not check capstan drive, take up spool for operation..Might have stretched belt. If moving and nada, bad electronics.

Your take up spool or the pinch roller on the deck mechanism is probably not turning & causing the tape to spill into the deck. The cause of this could either be the motor is not turning the pinch roller if a belt has snapped or the clutch mechanism is not engaging the take up spool. If you remove the top cover & take a look at the tape when it is in play or rewind mode you will see if it spills on the right hand side, look to see in the right spool in the cassette tape is turning. The remedy would be to remove the deck mechanism & check the gears or belts.

the belt goes round the motor spindle at the bottom. tape belt to large pulley. tilt machine backwards and put belt over motor shaft and tape into position. start belt onto main pulley and turn it so belt eases on. it is a tight fit
