I have added a Phillips 1080p upconvert dvd player to my Sanyo DWM-2500 system. The connection is a direct audio out / audio in from player to player, using a high quality audio cable for maximum sound. The Phillips is also directly connected to my LCD TV with a high quality HDMI cable.
When playing a Dolby 5.1 DVD in the Phillips... everything works fine. The only problem I am encountering is not getting the proper 5.1 channel separation of sound from my speakers... in other words, I get regular stereo sound. All sounds can be heard from all speakers, no separation.
The Phillips has a digital output jack, but the Sanyo (from what I can see) has no digital input jack. Unless I am missing it, I would assume that being Dolby 5.1 compatible, the Sanyo would have one.
Short of replacing my receiver... is there anyway to get true 5.1 surround sound channels from my Sanyo, and still have the HiDef picture quality from the Phillips upconvereter.
I have tried everything I can think of.
Thank you for your help.
Sounds like you are getting analog signals from your componet cables and a true digital input from your HDMI into your tv.
However that unit is Analog audio input x 1 only.
So i dont think your going to get true digital surround sound.
The problem being
Sanyo =
Inputs:
Analog Audio x 1
Outputs:
Composite x 1 · S-Video x 1 · Component x 1 · Digital Audio Coaxial x
