It's for when you dump the bucket. You put the cup in to catch the drips while you're dumping it.

There are 5 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder level
in basement applications. Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.
Hope this helps to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Please let e know.

I HAVE AIDYLIS DEHUMIDIFIER#0526011 THAT WHEN HOOKED UP WITH A FLOOR DRAIN STILL LETS WATER GO DOWN INTO THE CATCH BUCKET AND NOT COMPLEATLY OUT THE DRAIN

id ck the drain hose connection for build up of fouling material , the symptom you describe usually occurs when the hose cant drain all the water the machine makes

a wet/dry vac is perfect for this (set to wet) and some even allow you to turn airflow around to blow air as well , this is perfect to clear a stopped up hose (point end into bucket)

Water will not drain out hose even though hose is attached. It still just drains into the tank. This is a pain since it is in the basement.

I had the same problem....raised the unit 3 feet off floor, the drain hose is 4feet long... But the secret to getting unit to drain into hose if unit is set to Continous is...... TILT the unit back about 5 degrees with a half inch piece of wood under front wheels and She will drain into hose instead of bucket.... [email protected]

MDL11-40AEN3. When connecting hose to unit for continuous drain, will not drain through hose (fills up bucket and shuts off). I've called Midea and they told me to tilt unit. That doesn't help

Dennis, the problem you're having is caused by either the drain hose being clogged or the drain hose connection and tubing being clogged. When this occurs, water is diverted to the bucket.

Turn the unit OFF & unplug it.

Remove the hose and check it for for clogs. You can do this visually or by blowing thru it. If you find nothing there, it's the connection and/or interior tubing that is clogged.

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the connection hole & tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reconnect the hose, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor the hose for water flow. Be sure the drain hose is not kinked and is sloped down from the unit. In addition, the hose length on most dehumidifiers should not exceed 48".

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.A long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
.

I hope this helps you solve the problem. Please let me know and thanks for choosing FixYa.

The water doesn't drain through the site to which I attached the hose. Instead it drains through a quarter inch hole (which appears to be a manufaactured hole, not a crack or break)to the right of...

It sounds like the unit should have came with a plug for the hole. You can probably obtain a plug from a home improvement or hardware store or even improvise one yourself. Also, make sure the unit is pitched so that the water actually runs towards the hose.

Hooked up garden hose for continuous mode but it Problem with the Whirlpool AD35USS Dehumidifier Hooked up garden hose for continuous mode but it seems the water is going into the bucket and not through...

First, the hose should not exceed 5 feet in length. There is no pump in that model dehumidifier. It relies totally on gravity to drain through the hose.

If all of the above is as stated above, I suspect that hose or the tubing inside the hose connecting is clogged. Which forces the water into the bucket rather than the hose.

To remove the clog in the unit, you will need an 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar, that is appropriately sized to fit into the hose connection/drain hole. NO wire coat hangers though.

Carefully feed the Zip Tie in to the hose connection. About 6" in the tubing will bend. You need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until the Zip Tie bottoms out or you run out of Zip Tie to work with. The slowly remove the Zip Tie while rotating it. This will breakup clog. As you near the end of the Zip Tie coming out, be prepared for some water to follow. DO NOT perform any of this while the unit is plugged in to the wall outlet.

Hope this helped you solve the problem, Robert. Please let me know. Thanks.

When you install the drain tube, be sure that it is placed into the drain hole in the dehumidifier. You then will be able to "latch" the tube at the hose end by lowering onto the outer hole opening. This maintains a tight connection and the water will drain properly.
