DVD player is not able to detect WD 320 GB hard drive

I have a WD 320 GB hard drive through which I want to play movies on TV through Philips DVD player which has USB 2.0 point. But the DVD player, which has USB 2.0 drive, does not detect the hard drive.

However, the USB slot has no difficulty in playing movies through 8 GB flash drive.

Pl help.

My new WD 320 GB external drive won't detect in my pc and laptop? pls help....

Hello there,

Please try to plug it into another USB port. There is a chance that your port could be faulty. If its not with the port, try to assign the drive letter if you are using windows. You have to right click on the My Computer icon, select Manage. Once on Computer Management, select Disk Management. Locate your WD drive and right click again. Finally, click on the Assign Drive Letter and follow the wizard.

Good luck!

Internal 320 hard drive into external

If you got a USB casing for that, it would have come with a USB and power cable. Yes, power too!

Plug the power, and make sure you have a USB 2.0 hi-speed port. Also check "computer management" and check the hard disk works.

I ripped Bluray movies using "ANY DVD HD" to my hardrive then playing them through "WD TV Live HD Media Player" (using HDMI cable to Sony Bravia HD L.C.D.TV) some movies work good but others play the video...

Either check around in Any DVD HD or the BluRay menu to set audio output to PCM, which doesn't require any decoding to play back properly or you will have to convert them separately.

When you right-click the drive and select format in the menu, you should be able to select the format type, NTFS, FAT32 or FAT.

No installation disc, but apparently i didnt need one

I bought the same product, I noticed that connecting the device to the USB ports at the back of the PC body and using shorter cable solved the problem, try each of the ports at the back of the PC.
