Frigidaire Affinity AEQ6700FSO electric dryer does not heat, then shuts off within 10 minutes.

Recently replaced the thermal limiter in Frigidaire Affinity AEQ6700FSO electric dryer, once we turned on the dryer to run a cycle, it didn't heat at all. The dryer ran for about 10 minutes then stopped running, but the display was still on.

Hello Scott Joseph Brandt - Since you have already replaced the thermal limiter check your breaker or fuses. Some dryers are run by two separate fuses, one for power and one for heat-ours is. If it is not the power source more than likely the issue lies with your heating coil.

SOURCE: Thermal limiter stops dryer; replaced multiple times. Dryer dead.

I think you are working on the wrong end. Check the fan and inlet ductwork of the dryer, if the air isn't moving properly, it will not move enough to keep the coils and limiters cool and they will fail after working properly a few times.

I'm getting an E65 code on my frigidaire affinity dryer. We've replaced the heating element and the fuse. It's still happening. It's been thoroughly cleaned out. What is my next step?

This indicates it is the High Limit Thermostat, which isn't a fuse. Most dryers have three heat related components. They usually trip because of bad airflow, check the hose at the back and the vent in the wall. This is the time that birds make nests in them! Also wash the lint filter with dish soap and a brush. The error code of E65 is a high limit thermostat trip . For Electric Model, check Inlet Thermal Limiter for continuity. If Thermal Limiter is open, check for evidence of high temperature event and any resulting damage. If no further damage is evident, replace Thermal Limiter.

My dryer suddenly stopped drying today. It just blows cold air. Before I took notice of all the lint in dryer, I took the heating element coil out which doesn't look damaged.

The lint MAY have caused a thermal limit fuse to blow out. If that is the case then it has to be replaced. There is also a chance that the heater element has failed and as you saw it is like a light bulb coil. You need to inspect it very closely if you don't have an ohm meter to test it for continuity. Hello John Sterns - First, try resetting the unit dryer by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes. Restart unit and if it proves to be ineffective then typically this is something that a professional would need to diagnose. Since it is such a complex unit, there are multiple possible causes; faulty power cord, house wiring, defective control board, thermal limiter or door switch.

Dryer overheats, already checked venting

Does the unit shut off when it overheats? According to the wiring diagram it could be the Heater Relay or High Limit Thermostat. See the wiring diagram for instructions on error codes and how to obtain them. It is easily found on their website. Hope this helps

Dryer dries in low, all other levels shows dr code

Sounds like the problem is an open high-heat thermal limit switch (some call it a thermostat). It, along with some others, is in the heating element circuit in the back bottom of the dryer.

More info, let me know...
