SOURCE: buttons on microwave do not work at all

Yes. The time base is important.

You could unplug it and try it again, but it may not work.

Another model's manual says, "a 120 Volt, 60 Hz,
AC only, 15- or 20-amp fused electrical supply (or circuit breaker)
is required."

SOURCE: kitchenaid double convection microwave /

I'm guessing the model number would be KEMS308GSS0.

In some cases, this is a glitch that can be cured by unplugging it for 1 minutes, then resetting the clock.

In other case, it may be a bad keypad (membrane switch) or control board.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

Kitchenaid KEMS308SSS00: when I open the microwave door now, instead of light coming on, the turn table turns!

It's a guess, but something mis-connected on that new board. They usually have a number of edge connectors and you have two on the wrong pins. A guess never the less.

Unable to adjust power level, the power level button on the control panel does not respond.

Try pressing and adjusting the power level before setting the cook time, or maybe before pressing start. Worked on my Panasonic

My microwave displays time etc, but does not turn on

That model number from the tag on your oven should be KCMS1555SS0, KCMS1555SS1, or KCMS1555SS2.

We would need more detailed information about what it's doing or not doing.

Does it respond to key presses?
Does the inside light come on when you open the door?
Can you enter the cooking time?
What happens when you press "Start"?
Does it run but not heat?
Does it count down but the inside light and fan do not come on?

Please post a new help request with the model number and detailed sympotms.

Highly likely your microwave has "failed".
Down inside the microwave is a part called the Magnetron. This is the part, (about the size of your fist), that makes the sound waves to cook the food.
On some models, it can fail, whilst all the other stuff works.
3 possibilities:
1) You need a fuse replaced.
2) You need a capacitor replaced (That part "starts" the magnetron) or
3) you need a new magentron.
In any regard, very often people will not opt to have it repaired, because the labor & parts can cost more than a new Microwave.
God bless your efforts.

Is there any fault code displayed on the display, such as F6?

I would first suggest checking the door switches and mounts.

If they are good, I would suspect the control board. We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you don't find yours, or if you want to look at it without disassembling the oven, you can download it here.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.
