this is most likely a short in the screen grid of the crt open the front lower under speaker cover and adjust the blue screen control .. turn it down with tv on might solve the problem
Count the flashes and the gap between the flashes as I know from experience the tv is giving you an error code in this way to say what is wrong. You should even be able to do this while the tv is in standby. Then once you have the code either consult your manual or try some of the sony forums to find out what the exact problem is. tv turns blue and then turns off. when i turn it back on, it fades to blue quickly then turns off again.
