Hi. If your remote is not able to control any of your devices, you can take advantage of its learning capabilities. The Harmony One remote is able to learn commands from your original device remote, so that it can properly mimic the remote.
To learn commands, log in to your software account and click on the "Devices" tab. Next to the icon for your receiver, click "Learn IR." This will take you to a page with all of the receiver's commands, which you can learn one by one by selecting them and clicking "Learn."
Hope this helps.
You will need to program the remote using the correct remote code for your model television. If you still have the manual for the television, the remote code should be located in there. If it's not there or you don't have the manual you can look up the codes online. There is no guarantee that the codes provided will work but most companies stick with a group of codes and use them in all of their products. Some good sources for remote codes would be: http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/codes-tv.shtml or http://kbase.x10.com/wiki/Universal_Remote_Code_List
You can also just google your tv model using "remote codes" as a search field and something should come up.
Dish provides a decent tutorial on how to program the codes into their remotes here: http://www.digitaldish.com/how-to-program-dish-remote.htm
Give the codes a try and hopefully you'll be able to control everything with one remote.
Also, if you find that you are having difficulty getting the codes to work, you can always purchase a "learning remote" which will allow you to program each remote key individually using the remotes to each individual device. I bought one of these:
and programmed it to control my Sony television, Xbox 360, PS3 and surround sound system. The instructions are pretty straightforward and it made my life a lot simpler.
Registering a BD remote control 1. Prepare the BD remote control. 2. Select (Accessory Settings) under (Settings) in the home menu. 3. Select [Register Bluetooth® Device]. 4. Select [Register BD Remote Control]. Only
one BD remote control can be registered at any given time. If you
register another BD remote control, information on the currently
registered headset will be overwritten. 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to register the BD remote control. When the registration (pairing) is complete, a controller number is assigned. Hints
When seven SIXAXIS™ wireless controllers are in use, you cannot register or use a BD remote control.
If
you register the BD remote control with another PS3™ system, the device
registration with the first PS3™ system will be cleared.
For detailed usage instructions for the BD remote control, refer to the instruction manual for the BD remote control.
You should get a new remote control. TV manufacturers don't spend mich time or effort finding codes to all appliances. If you get a remote that can learn codes, it doesn't have to be in the ir codes list.
just fixed mine. i went to psclones web site ...it doesn't even have the PS3 remote listed a s a product!! however by reading the PS2 manual i figured that if I basically adapted the instructions it might help...I moved the remote to the 3rd slot.. turned off controller switch... held connect button on reciever... turned on controller.... held connect button....held select button ......held down left analogue stick....in no particular order...going back and forth until i noticed the lights had started to go steady... kept holding (30 secs+) Saw a single steady red on 3rd slot...It stayed...Yeh ;O (no clue what was the deciding factor...but theres hope!!) Lesson learned..next time i pay the full price for the Sony remote... Hope this helps
Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console is the hardware I am using.
