I have heard if you call their customer support, they will ask you to send a picture of the broken unit and will send a replacement free of charge. I am attempting this myself, as our daughters was accidentally crushed in the car today. Their customer support phone number is 1-866-334-5327.

This site is worthless...more interested in tricking you with AD links than giving you an answer. Press Volume Down, Home and Right Directional...then power on. Connection screen will appear, connect it to your PC and select repair after tune up is done.

Then delete your profile on here and report the link you followed from google as worthless.

I'm actually on the phone now with customer service, for the same issue.


The rep asked me to plug in earphones / earbuds and rotate the phone 260 degrees 2 times and turn it on.
I did and I have sound, thru the earphones.... but none without them.
I'm on hold.... Hopefully they will get this resolved and fixed...
We purchased 2 of these leappads and while I love LeapFrog products, we've had a LOT of trouble with them.


Ok, cs came back on the line and they are issuing a replacement one.
I have to deface this one, send a pic and they will send a replacement..


This will be the 2nd one they have had to send us, the first due to a cracked screen.

Cannot replace screen. Contact leap frog through the warranty. They have you deface the bad one and send a pic of it, then they mail you a brand new one

Sounds like a stuck pen button or the pen wire is pinched (look in the battery door at the pen wire).
Although it very well could be something (spilled) in the power button.
Don't take it apart too far.. once the membrane on the touch screen is disturbed or taken apart, it'll never work right again!
For a whole replacement leapPad, try a thrift store. I see them all the time, all models, under $20, sometimes under $5. (I have a 4 year old son and he destroys everything!)
