Kitchenaid always shows "CLOCK SET", I think keypad is STUCK

Hi - this microwave is about 3 years old. About a week ago:

- It went into CLOCK SET mode by itself. It appears locked there. I can't set the clock or anything. The keys aren't responsive.

- I unplugged a few times, sometimes it says "-- F2 --", and sometimes it doesn't and goes back into CLOCK SET mode

I'm trying to figure out if there's something I can do to fix it, or if I need to get new parts, and if so, do I need just a new control panel, or also a new electrical board.

thanks

I have the same exact problem with the F2 showing, but the microwave will start beeping without anyone touching the buttons. I've unplugged it multiple times hoping it would reset, but as of yet, no luck! Any help would be appreciated.

This is a pretty easy fix, depending on your full model number.

    Is it KHMS155LSS0, KHMS155LSS1, KHMS155LSS2, KHMS155LSS3, or KHMS155LSS4?

F2 on a newer Whirlpool / Kitchenaid microwaves means you have a shorted keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

But please note that for some models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Hi,

Press the "Off/Clear' button to cancel anything on the display, and reset the microwave. This is a soft reset and will simply get you out of any program you have started. Press it when the cooking complete reminder appears on the display.
Perform a hard reset. Pull the plug out of the wall power supply, and wait a moment. Plug the microwave back into the wall power supply to reset any anomalies with the microwave's memory. You will need to reset the time of day if you perform a hard reset.
Reset the time of day. Press the "Clock" button, and turn the dial to set the hours. Press the dial to enter. Follow the same procedure for the minutes and a.m. or p.m. Press the "Start" button to start the clock. This should help fix the problem.

F2 E0 "Stuck key" ????????????

F2-E0 - Shorted Touch Pad (Keypad) - Check the connection between the touch pad (keypad) and control board (clock) to make sure it is secure.
Select the 'cancel' function and wait 60 seconds.
If error code reappears then replace the touch pad, or touch pad and control board (clock) if all one assembly.

GE Microwave/Convection Oven - Door Glass Just Exploded!!!

This happened to us 3 weeks ago with our 3 year old Kitchenaid microwave. Several hours after its last use it just shattered. In doing research I discovered that this has also happend with GE microwaves, all 3 years old. The cause seems to have been a batch of defective glass supplied by a third party. Whirlpool was very quick to cover the cost of the replacement, even though our microwave was out of warrantee.

Microwave not working

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

Otherwise, your controller or keypad may have moisture on it.

Microwave/Convection Oven has mind of its own: turns to Crisp mode on its own.

Yes this is a touchpad issue. As you have noted the crisp button is stuck and this is the cause of this. You can try removing the keypad and push up the pressed button. If its jammed then replacing it is the only way.
