No power to GE Spacemaker Microwave

The power to my GE Spacemaker Microwave Model JVM 140-JVM142 cut out just as I finished a 30 second reheat. I checked power to the outlet where the microwave is plugged and it is OK. However, I get no lights, no touchpad, no fan etc. Any help? Thanks! Larry

In addition to my post for the GE Mocel JVM 14--142, I replaced the 15 amp ceramic fuse and got power and lights but it blew againas soon as I tried to cook. I guess the Magnetron tube has reached the end of it's life.

I have model GE Microwave serial # JVM2070SK02. I start to cook something and it shuts off 5~10 seconds. Keyboard is still lit up, but no clock, fan, light and you cannot operate anything on the key pad. Unplug the unit and it resets. Sometimes it cooks, sometimes it doesn't? It is getting more frequent with the shutting down problem?

Check this out first before you buy any new parts.
The mag's little cooling fan probably broke loose and fell off the fan motor's shaft. The fan motor will still be running when you hit start but there is no fan on it. The fan keeps the mag cooler. The mag will heat up too much and then shortly the oven automatically shuts everything down when the mag gets too hot because the fan blade is just lying in there, Fan needs to be glued back on the shaft after the shaft is roughed up a little. Disconnect the plug-in wires (note where they go on), wiggle and remove the fan motor from the oven. I used contact cement to hold the fan to the shaft. the fan motor is located right behind the control panel. You have to first remove the grill, then the control panel's screws. It's not difficult to repair. No new parts needed.

Hi this is tech crazy
the solution to the problem is as follows

Possible causes:

1. No power to outlet (overload or fault in microwave or other appliance).
2. Blown main fuse - likely due to other problems.
3. Open thermal protector or thermal fuse.
4. Defective controller or its power supply.
5. Clock needs to be set before other functions will operate (some models).

Works but no heat

Possibly a blown fuse inside, or a defective magnatron. If you decide to open the unit, please unplug it first!

Model 140 (new) stopped heating

If that is a new appliance, I would call GE and ask them to give you a new one or get someone to fix it.
This microwave should have one year warranty.
Hope this helps.

Ge spacemaker microwave jvm/1650

Mmmm it's so easy,
First disconect the power, take the cover off, moslitly there would be 5 screws and two tab's on the top.
inside on the right hand side the magnetron it's a sylver box measuring about 4 in x 4 in x 5 in. It will have a plasic cover moslitly that would have to be remove first then on the magnetron there is 4 crews and one connector.
It should fall downard after.
If you have a power supply after the secondary , that may also be your problem.

Regards

Bob
