We just suffered a power outage in my neighborhood. Afterwards, tried to turn on tv and would not power up. Noticed that green System Reset light keeps blinking. When I try to push it in with a paper clip I hold it for at least 10 - 20 seconds and it still will not turn on. Please help!!! I'm hosting a superbowl party!! It was also connected to a surge protector so nothing should be fried.

My thanks to your husband (and all who are involved in this stupid conflict) for his service.
You didn't mention whether there was a pattern to the blinking which in some sets can be decoded into a specific problem.
I'll assume it is a regular blink rate you have.
All modern sets have a standby state that allows them to respond to the remote when they are 'off.'
The power for the LED that's blinking comes from this 'always on' power supply and the fact that it is blinking probably (and unfortunately) means that either the main power supply has failed or possibly the lamp in some brands.
Because this can come from more than one place, it's not possible to determine which source it might be.
The owner's manual might give info under 'Troubleshooting' as to the source.
If you don't have the manual available, you can download one here:
Mitsubishi Manual
If you find that it is the main power supply, this is likely on a separate board and may be user replaceable.
Pull the AC plug from the wall and let it sit for at least a couple of hours to allow certain components to loose any dangerous charge. Remove the lower panel from the set and look for a board with larger than average parts on it, particularly cylindrical objects (capacitors) and larger dark blocks (transformers).
Look on that board for a part number for the board (not the components).
Locate the nearest Mitsubishi repair company and call to see if they repair failed boards or only sell new.
Once you have the price for it (could be $90-$200 US), you can decide if you want to replace or repair it.
Replacing the board is probably not rocket science and have had several ladies do this on their own.
If you find it is the lamp that has failed, this is also something you can do without great technical skills and the prices for these ranges from ~$125 - $200.
SOURCE: green light blinks constantly. reset doesn't fix it.
This set has a lot of problems but I have news for you that I recently discovered from a authorized Mitsubishi repair center---
Mitsubishi has had so many problems with this set that now they sell a complete Chassis replacement for this set for about 200 dollars--You will have to go to a authorized center---no more trying to fix individual boards in this set...if you are in doubt--Google the model number and you will see all the problems this set has had---
Contact Mitsubishi and I think the best thing you can do is get the Chassis replaced--
If you have more questions about what I am telling you let me know---I think Mitsubishi is trying to avoid the class action lawsuits that are in progress against them for this model.

SOURCE: had power outage, then when power back on in
This is a solution that was previously posted by Fix-Ya Guru Freetek for the exact same TV and same situation:

Blinking light ofdeath
ONLY 1 of 2 things can cause this problem----
First thing to do is remove front speaker grill--it should pull out and issecured with plastic pegs--behind it you will find an inspection plate---
Notice the one or two pairs of wires coming from the front keyboard of theset---remove the inspection plate and follow the wires to the right--you canunplug both plugs(most have two and they are marked with letters and differents so you cannot get them wrong)
The idea here is to remove the front keyboard with its reset button etc fromthe circuit---You will still be able to try to turn the set on with theremote---
These sets have a Receiver that is called a DM board--(large metal box to theleft as you look from the back) and if the power goes out the green light willblink for about 70 seconds and then go out---it is the Receiver booting up. Itis called the DM board.
If disconnecting the keyboard allows the set to turn on--you have a bad resetswitch and two choices---either operate the set only with the remote or toremove the front screen and get at the reset switch (it is tiny) and removeand/or replace it.
If disconnecting the keyboard does not restore the set to operation---thereceiver is bad---there are 4 or more caps and some pico fuses that can fail inthat unit---Mitsubishi no longer sells or repairs these--if it is bad and notthe caps there is a company you can send the unit to and have it repaired--ifyou need to know their name let me know---
You can call them and get a quote for repairing the receiver.
Let me know what more information you need--I am here to help.
If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpfulas I do this here for free.
