Toilet tank not filling

My toilet is falling apart! It's a standard toilet that was installed a couple of years ago. First the ball came off....but the toilet tank was still filling with water, so I didn't get it fixed. Now, all of a sudden, the tank is not filling at all. There's no problem with water supply to other faucets in the bathroom. Help! Thanks in advance....

Shut the water off to the toilet .Remove the toilet supply from the tank end.slowly turn the valve on to see if their is any water coming thru the supply. If water is coming thru the supply than you know you need to change the ballcock. This is the part in the tank where the water comes out of.

The fill valve is most likely corroded with mineral deposits. You can either try to clean it or replace it (these cost just a few dollars). Remove the old one and take it to a plumbing supply or hardware store to properly match the replacement.

Hope this helps.

This is diagram of a typical toilet tank setup if the refill tube is not putting water into the flush valve as pictured the toilet will do what you have described.

We just installed the Cimerron two piece. After flushing the toilet, it will not stop running. Water just goes into the over flow section.

  • The exact cause of a Kohler Cimarron toilet running non-stop depends on the exact model of toilet owned. In some, the lift chain connected to the handle can become kinked, preventing the ball seal from covering the drain completely. Just unkink the chain to fix this. In other cases, the float ball is stuck against the side of the tank, preventing it from returning to its normal horizontal position. When this happens, the toilet's tank doesn't stop filling with water. The excess continuously flows into the overflow pipe. Dislodge the float ball from the side of the toilet and this should clear the problem. Likewise, you might consider shortening the armature on which the float ball sits, so it won't become stuck again.

When flushing toilet, water spins in bowl but does not flush away. Have used plunger to no avail. Any suggestions?

It's either plugged or the tank isn't filling properly.
If it's the tank then the fill valve in the tank needs to be adjusted. There should be a screw to adjust the float ball. Back the screw out until the fill valve starts to run;let the water run until the tank fills to the fill line then turn the screw back in.Try flushing the toilet. If that doesn't work then the toilet is probably plugged.
If it's plugged you may need to rent/borrow a snake to clear the line.

Toilet tank not filling up with enough water

By "tank ball" do you mean the fill valve that is connected to the water supply line or the flapper ball connected to the toilet handle?

Tank will not refill after you flush

okay depending on the type of toilet ball **** (i know its a funny word, but it's really what its called.) you have one the most standard type is the long wire with the big ball on the end. you need to adjust this ball **** so it goes lower test it out, flush your toilett and wait till the water drains then when its supposed to come back up push down on the ball **** and youll see the water will start to fill, so then adjust the little screw on the fill valve (the other side of the floater where its attached)

you may need to shut off your water supply and drain your tank depending on how skilled you are,

pretty simple work, if you have questions feel free to ask.
