SOURCE: American Standard toilet constantly runs

The rubber cork thst lifts when you press the handle is leaking by and causes the water level to drop below shut off level so it trys to maintain the the shut off level every minute or so. Replace the cork with one made with the red rubber. good luck

SOURCE: bought low flow 1.6 litre American standard toilet

Serval reasons: (1) noise from handle chain being metal-consider switching to lighter plastic type. (2) The rubber flap which lifts up when handle is pushed down and seals "when handle is let go" to allow water to fill in take maybe worn to the point of needing replacement-Go to any Lowe's/HomeDepot and they will walk you through replacement process of just removing old one and putting ends in place over hooks to install new one. Takes me 1 minute to do. (3) Adjust the water cut-off valve that supplies water to tank so it can feel up rapidly by just turning the value. If value is hard to turn try using some oil or WD-40 on it. Remember that one way opens to allow quicker fill up and better flush and other way just turns water to toilet off. If now of these things work then just give me a yell and I can advise further.

SOURCE: I have a problem with

Hi keithn60...

I had the same problem one time with my toilet tank, the answer is to put some silicone on the seal washer between the take and bowl assembly and to use a level on the tank to tighten it just enough to be level and not leak.

SOURCE: bought a american standard toilet

Actually sounds like trash in the toliet water valve.....or possible that if teflon tape was used to seal threads has been drapped accross inlet threads and caused blockage......Best way to check this is to take supply line loose from toliet and slowly turn water on while pointing the supply into a bucket or something to catch the water and see if the pressure is ok......Then check valve to see if grit or blockage is in the toliet valve.........Depends on valve design to whether or not you will be able to clean....may have to replace toliet valve with new one......hope this helps

SOURCE: I have an American standard tank 4083 that is leaking where the tank bolts meet the bowl

Shut the water off flush toilet and there should be two bolts that you can see at the under side of that tank. You need to remove them bolts and lift off the tank and install a new seal. Sometimes i mean sometimes you can tighten them a little and they will stop leaking. If it has been for awhile id just replace it.

VOCAL FILLING american standard 6 ltr flush --when the last half of the tank is filling ,it becomes quite vocal , like a loud hum ! any ideas ?

What probably is happening is the valve in the fill tube is warped or worn. The easiest fix is to replace the fill valve with a new fluid master. This is where your noise is coming from.

Why does my toilet suddenly fill the tank?

Usually seeping is from under the flapper. Replace flapper with one designed for that model. Avoid generic flappers.

We have 3 toilets in the house. the tanks won't refill after flushing

You may have dirt getting into your water from the well and clogging the fill valves in your toilets. Valve assembly can be opened and cleaned out from the top. Instructions are available on AS website for your model. (Note) If you are picking up material from your well, a sediment filter should be added to your water line.

Slow filling toilet tank

Was taking over two minutes to fill. Problem was with fill valve.
To resolve problem either replace fill valve or remove the flow restriction. Here is how I done it.

Turn off water!!!!
Remove the supply line.
Inside of the fill valve is a rubber piece. It is about 3/4" in diameter by about 1" long. This rubber piece has become distorted after years of use. This has to be removed.
Believe it or not, use a corkscrew and thread it into the rubber piece that is located in the very lower section of the fill valve. You can't see it so you will have to feel. Pull it out.
Re-connect the supply line.
Turn on water.
Check for leaks.
Problem solved.
NOTE>>> This only works for American Standard fill valves.

My American Standard toilet flushes okay but when it is filling up the water will not stop running unless I lift the top and depress the lever.

Replace the fill valve. You can pick one up[ at Home dep or Lowes for about 20 buks. Close your angle stop at wall behind toilet. Drain all water from tank then remove supply loine from under tank. Then unscrew fill valve and remove gasket and all. Remember to put gasket in new one. :)
