I have a kenmore coldspot model 70167998 - loud vibration in freezer; i'm thinking maybe it's the frost free fan going out? Is this a fire danger?

No theres not any fire danger,it may just be the fan blades hitting ice build up due to defrost issues you will need to remove the rear inner wall in the freezer to see exactly what it is

SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot freezer is buzzing loudly

See if pressing on the back panal makes a difference and see if anything is putting pressure on the panel. If its vibration it is trial and error to get it positioned to quiet it down. If it is the bearing replacement is the cure.

SOURCE: Kenmore Coldspot w/Ice Maker Not Making Ice

hi LOP7,
In most cases you can easily solve this problem.
step one would be to make sure your freezer is getting cold enough. If you have icecream in your freezer is it frozen solid or is it soft. Most icemakers cycle around 0 degrees and if your freezer is not getting to 0 then it will not cycle and it will not make ice.
Step two would be to make sure you icemake is cycling. To do this simply lift the little shut off arm on your icemaker and wait about an hour then go back to the icemaker and drop the arm down. The icemaker should start going through a cycle. You should notice the arm slowly begin to raise and the ice dispencer fingers will begin to turn. Then you will hear it call for water. You may hear a humm.
If the freezer is cold enough and the icemaker is cycling that only leaves the inlet valve. replace the valve and enjoy the ice.
If the freezer is cold enought and the icemaker does not cycle, then you have a bad icemaker. Simply replace the icemaker and viola.
Third if the freezer is not cold enought 0 defrees. Then you may have a defrost problem. In this case post more info and I will be happy to help. Good luck [email protected]

SOURCE: kenmore coldspot side by side refrigerator - freezer fine. other

Good to see you put your model number down correctly. Do the lights come on inside when you open door? I noticed your refrigerator has a control board inside the fresh food section behind the control panel I want you to unplug the refrigerator and examine that board for burn marks or loose solder connections on both Sides. Then let me know what you find. Thanks, Sea breeze My email is [email protected] Web Site http://servicepartstec.blogspot.com/ Part Number for Control board is 8201528

I have a Kenmore Coldspot ref, model # 78862898. The freezer literally has icicles hanging from the roof of the freezer, frost on food items. The ref isn't as cold as it should be with water...

Sound allot like there is a serious air leak....Is the door sealed good? You also have a defrost drain line plugged up behind the freezer panel you will need to clear that out with hot water after removing all the ice. watch this video to see how to replace the defrost thermosthttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-h541_14ZE

Kenmore Coldspot freezer too warm

Hi,

Remove the access panel in the freezer section to expose the evaporator coils. If the coils in the freezer section get plugged up with frost, this frost will block the evaporator fan motor from blowing the cold air around. The fan blade can also hit this frost and either become noisy or stop altogether. Locating the defrost timer can be tricky....they are often hidden behind the back bottom corners of the fridge at the bottom, in the last few years the timers have been located in the ceiling of the fresh food section, and some behind the cold control cover. Once you locate the defrost timer, slowly turn the screw like wheel in the middle of the defrost timer with a straight screwdriver until the fridge shuts off. You are now in defrost. If the defrost heater(s) comes on now, replace the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. If the heater(s) does not come on, you can ohm test the defrost heater for continuity or volt test for 120 volts to the heater(s). If you have no power to the defrost heater(s) you can also bypass the defrost thermostat to see if the defrost heater will come on, join the 2 wires together to bypass the defrost thermostat. If the heater now comes on, replace the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. If the heater itself is bad, defrost the fridge with a hair dryer, replace the defrost heater* and defrost thermostat. If the defrost timer seems "hot" to the touch or is noisy ( like a ticking or screeching noise )...replace it.

Hope this helpout......

Kenmore coldspot - freezer stays cold, but frig isn't

If this model is a frost free, you probably have a bad defrost system. That would make the unit freeze up and cold air can not get through to cool the unit properly.
