Water Line Connector in back of refrigerator started spraying water everywhere (leaking) at the connector (caused $5,000) damage to wood floors, etc. LG repairman came out, and replaced connector (water leaked again) about a month later but noticed in time to shut off water. All connectors / tubing are plastic !!! Is there any way this can be converted to copper tubing / connectors to alleviate this problem, or do I need to purchase another refrigerator (from another maker). Unit is only 3 years old and was very expensive. Thanks.
Try closing the water valve slightly to reduce the water pressure to the unit.

OMG, LG same problem leaks in the plastic water lines, 5 times... I have used coupling to
remove tubing that has sprung leaks.. but has ruined my wood flooring, I have never had this
happen with any other refrig....... what the heck.... looking for couplings to keep cutting out
leaks in original tubing

Exact same problem here! We replaed the bottom tube from the fridge to the water source with copper, but you can't replace the tubing on on the fridge to the ice maker/auto water without taking the whole thing apart. It is so frustrating. I called LG and of course they said "it is out of warrantee" and we had to call a plumber for their faulty decision to use plastic tubing.
My new LG fridge (10/15/11) says to use copper tubing
I have the same problem with my LG. This is coming from behind the water filer connection hose.
Just got my LG. Same problem with connector!!!
SAME problem here!! We have an upper armoire style LG fridge with lower drawer freezer. We left on vacation and came back to a flood. Remember to turn off water line when you leave for any amount of time!! Our neighbors found the problem about 2 days after the leak started. The plastic attachment to water line just opened in two pieces. CHEAP!! Not impressed!

I had the same problem with copper tubing.
I tried to fix it with plumbers tape, no luck.
I just shut off the water source and I buy Ice at 7-11.
replaced leaking water connector and the new one still has a small leak. Did I connect it properly? Is there a trick?
The plastic line on my refriderator is developing pin hole size leaks which still causes major damage. This seems to be like the polybutleine pipe from the 90's
I had this happen on an LG fridge too and cause a fair bit of damage.. not too impressed.
This happened last May and now again but worse water all over and buckling wood floor!! guess we need to disconnect water, what a shame to pay such a price for something that doesn't work!!
