Ice dispenser motor is inoperative

A couple things to check here. First see if there is ice in the tray. If so chances are the ice maker will need to be replaced however these are very reliable ice makers. If no ice in the tray pull up on the ejector blade (don't worry you won't break it) turn clockwise to start the ice maker thru a cycle. The ejector blade is the long white bar with fingers on it that run the length of the tray. Once it completes a cycle it should fill with water. If no water then either the fill tube is frozen over and will need to be defrosted or the water valve is bad.

Hello,
There are as you can imagine many possible causes for you no ice condition. I will give you the most common problem for the year model you have. I hope this helps you.
You will need to remove the ice maker from the freezer compartment to check it. Once it is repaired if the following information does help, and you reinstall the ice maker, it should go through a cycle automatically within an hour of your reinstalling it in the freezer compartment.
Once you have the ice maker out of the freezer compartment you will need to remove the white cover on the end of the ice maker and look at the center of the large white gear. If the part inside the hole in the center of the gear is broken or looks twisted, you will need to replaced the module. The module is the part that has the large white gear and is held in the ice maker by 3 phillips head screws. It only comes as an assembly. You can't get just the little broken piece.

My GE DSS25KGRB side-by-side refrigerator had a problem where the ice dispenser motor would not turn. I had noticed this intermittently in the past, and this time it happened after the power came back on after being off for several hours. I removed the ice-cube bucket, and tried to turn the auger motor shaft ¼ turn manually, as advised in my instruction booklet for how to refit the bucket. Since it wouldn’t turn I guessed (correctly) that ice had gotten into the motor and froze it.
I removed the ice dispensor motor assembly (outer four hex screws), disconnected the two cables as I went, and removed the assembly from the fridge. I then disconnected the two motor wires, removed the clear-rubber boot that covered the motor, and let it defrost and dry out for 20 minutes or so, partially assisted with a hair dryer. Then I could turn the motor shaft.
Before reassembling it, I noticed what appeared to be a GE engineering error. Only two of the three attaching screws on the motor fit into the three clear-rubber grommets that were attached to the rubber boot. It looked like mismatched parts. This prevented the boot from covering the motor tightly, which probably contributed to moisture getting in. So after letting it dry for another hour or so, I put it back together, and sealed the gaps between the boot and the metal housing by applying some "100% silicon sealant, indoor/outdoor, for windows and doors".
I’ll really know whether this is a permanent fix if it survives a few freeze-thaw cycles. But it works again for now, and I don’t want my ice-cream to melt.

There is a small door under neath ice maker shelf (literally) w/ 2 small screws that keep it in place,or a button that can release ice maker on the rt. side of machine. Good luck!!
