I just finished installing an Audiovox XM Radio in my car. I followed the instructions and called the XM hotline to have the radio activated. I waited an hour and went to my car still no signal, I called again and they were to re fresh the connection- 2 hours later no Signal. They told me to move the car away from trees and tall buildings which I did. Still I can not get a signal. Everything appears to be hooked up correctly. Please send any ideas.
Lately I have been loosing the signal constantly in the house. I've tried different stations to see if it would be any better and it's not. I called xm and they refreshed my signal but it didn't do ant good. It's really annoying to constantly have the signal fade. Everything is hooked up right. This is been going on for about 5 months and my neighbors complain about the same thing.
Any Suggestions
The XM antenna wire in the automobile might not be plugged in tightly enough. When utilized for a long time, an antenna may also experience issues such as broken or bent parts.

Where did you place the XM antenna on the vehicle? It's possible you have a defective antenna, but you can try a different mounting location. It needs to be on the outside of the vehicle, preferably on a large metal surface.
Your Radio ID can be displayed by tuning your radio to channel 0. (That's one channel down from the XM Preview.) Make sure to check your ID code carefully. Please note that the following letters are not used: I,O, S, and F.

The problem was with the antenna, I had a defective one. I tried a second antenna and it all began working, all I had to do was call XM and have them refresh the signal.
Thanks a bunch!!!

I have the same radio for about a year (sept 06) I use it on my semi I am a regional driver going throughout the midwest. At first I had no problems when I use to run from from Chicago to Detriot everyday. Then about May 07 my signal started getting a little worst (no signal). I now drive with another company so I travel all around the midwest have tried another radios of the same model XCS9 and 3 different antennas (car, home and truck) still same problem I used it with and without RF adapter. As long as a strong signal is coming in it works but no go with a weak one and 99% of the time signal is weak. And thats the way it should work no signal no sound but where are all of the no signals coming from?? I used a different truck everyday but same model!!! So I only use unit at home which means I never hardly use it because I am on the road most of the time. All connections are right just as before. For instant if I go to North Lima, OH from Chicago and I take the I80/90 toll road there is no signal all the down and all the way back same problem going to Omaha, NE on I80. And the places I do get a signal its just for a little while not worth the trouble anymore I just leave it at home and I hate that I miss all my stations. HelPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!
I have an AudioVox that has worked for the past 3 yrs and certainly began displaying "antenna" problems. I have cleaned surface mount on top of the car and the spiral antenna boost. No change;, however, some mornings the reception is fine for about 30 minutes before it goes out.
Question: Do antennas wear out due to exposure to weather?
What would be my next course of action?
Thanks, Mr obvious !!!
