Either a wire has come loose in the back or on the cord itself or hopefully not the element is burnt out.

SOURCE: the dryer works but there is no heat

If the breakers are okay and you have power to the dryer the problem would be one of two issues.

The first and most likely is the thermal cut off. This is a small temperature activated fuse that will trip if the air flow through the heater is poor, this is usually due to a plugged lint filter or restricted vent pipe between the dryer and outside.

The second is the heat element itself has gone bad. You can measure it with an ohmmeter or physically inspect it for breaks. The image I have attached shows both. The T cut off is part 47 and the element is part 14 both visible with the lower panel taken off. The lower panel has 2 screws visible while laying on the floor looking straight at the panel.

The part numbers for the components are 279973 (cut off kit) and 3387747 (heater)

Soft Touch -PF- means power failure, nothing else. Most likely the problem is not with the dryer. The circuit breaker became too weak for the dryer load. I beleive replacing the circuit breaker will solve the problem. Gendos...post back

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet Dryer - Working but no heat

MAKE SURE YOUR VENT ISNT CLOGGED AND YOU HAVE 220 VOLTS AT THE DRYER IF ALL THIS CHECKS OUT GO TO ELEMENT WHICH IS BEHIND THE LOWER PANEL IN THE FRONT.REMOVE THE PANEL WITH THREE SCREWS ON THE BOTTOM AND TAP DOWN AND OUT AT THE SAME TIME. USE A VOLT OHM METER AND CHECK OHMS ACROSS THE TERMINALS OF THE HEATER IT SHOULD HAVE A OHM READING IF NOT CHANGE HEATER AND OPERATING THERMOSTAT GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: Whirlpool Duet Dryer is scorching clothes

there is a sensor in the exhaust line in the dryer, near the motor. this tells the heating element to shut off when it gets to a certain temp, either during reg cycle or if the exhaust gets clogged, it is meant as a safety measure, but it sounds like yours is bad so the heating element never shuts off. it is not an expensive part and easy to replace

    Hi,

Ok, lets first check your thermal fuse.

You would need to take off the lower front access panel under your door, then take off the duct assembly#45, by removing the two #11 screws as shown in your parts diagram here: Bulkhead parts for Whirlpool GEW9250PW1

Unplug or turn the breaker off to your dryer first before opening it up and ohm testing.

Then you will need a multimeter to ohm your thermal fuse. Its #59 in that parts diagram, take both wires off the thermal fuse first.

Here's the thermal fuse for your model you can order here if needed:
    Thermal Fuse WP3392519

This video shows how to test it:

Let us know what you find.

If the thermal fuse tests good, We've had a few members report door switch problems.

You can check it for continuity with a multimeter to make sure.

Here's that door switch you can order:
    Door Switch WP8283288

It shows on Page 4-6 in your repair manual I posted a link to below how to access it to check/change it. Make sure your dryer is unplugged!

Push the button in on the door switch with one meter probe on COM and the other meter probe on NO and see if it reads. Normal ohms is 0-1.

If the thermal fuse and door switch check fine, then its the control board.

Here's the control board for your model you can order here:
    Main Control Board WP8546219

I'm attaching the repair manual pdf for the Whirlpool Duet dryer below.

It shows how to get access to the control board on page 4-2 through 4-4.

Unplug or turn the breaker off to your dryer first.

below is a link to the manual

Is the selector knob loose on the stem? Look on the knob to see if there is a set screw of some sort that you can tighten to set it where it belongs, it just seems it's loose and isn't pointing to where it should. Let me know if this works or not,
