Accidentally switched my sandisk memory to 'lock'

Accidentally switched my sandisk memory card to 'lock'. Now when I try to use me camera it says 'memory card error' does this mean I have lost all my previous photos?! I have tried switching the switch to back the other direction but it doesn't make any difference. Just been on a wonderful holiday to Europe and would hate to loose all those photos!

Locking the card simply protects it from writes. It does not wipe out anything that was on it already.

If you're asking about a Memory Stick, there's a switch on the back. Slide it away from the "LOCK" position. If you're asking about an SD card, there's a switch on the side. Slide it toward the metal contacts.

I have a Sandisk memory card, and everyone I try to take a picture or delete a picture from the camera itself or on the computer, it wouldn't allow me. This has been happening for over 2 months now and...

Try the locking mechanism on the side. It can lock sometimes if it is loose,as you put it into the slot. If necessary tape it in unlocked mode. It (the switch) will appear on the upper left hand corner of the SD card or micro SD adapter.

When i try to format my micro sd card system shows remove write protect how can i format it

Hi, i have here a photo that will show you on how to remove write protect on a micro SD.
1. You need to insert your micro SD into an adapter. 2. Unlock the micro SD through your adapter as shown below. 3. Once done, your micro SD is no longer write protected. eibraz_16.jpg

NOTE: The lock switch doesn't lock the micro SD into the adapter; The lock switch doesn't lock the data on the micro SD; The lock switch simply tells the "user" not to write. It just says "please, don't write me."
I hope this helps.

There is usually a switch on the side of the card that will allow you to unlock it. Slide the switch to the other position.

My sandisk memory stick pro duo has shown up file error in my pictures so when i go to transfer them on to my computer it can't get past the error how do i solve this?

Without knowing what the specific error is this is my best guess:

SOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.
There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.

SOLUTION 2 - Toggle the lock switch.
If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
4. Try to transfer files into the device.

My memory card is locked and i tried everything i have a canon a540 powershot and the memory card is a sandisk 8gb

Have you noticed the slider on the side of the card? This acts as a lock and might have been accidentally moved to the locked position, in which case you could just move it back to unlock again. Hope this helps.

Locked memory card

I guess it is a simple switch problem..

try to switching it between lock and unlock many times until it become ok again..

If it will still not unlock itself, try to format it, for some errors to erased and starts a new one.
