Vertical green lines appear on my lcd monitor

Have you tried to do a reset via the monitors menu options?

Are you sure the cable is properly seated? You will typically get a tint of red green or blue when a particular pin on the cable isn't making contact. The lines on the other hand would indicate a bad display. Best advice would be to check the cable and if its all the way in hen replace the monitor. They are not worth repairing and also dangerous to work on.

Is this on a monitor or on a laptop LCD display?

Most of the time it is due to a hardware issue like a video card or the screen itself.

When does the line appear?
A. Is it there even with the monitor or laptop turned off?
B. Is it there during the OS logo / boot screen or does it appear after the OS loads?
C. If it is a monitor, with your system turned off go into the menu of the monitor by using the buttons on the front. Is the line there?

What you can do to try and fix it is.

1. Make sure you have all the latest drivers for your video card.
2. Change the resolution of the screen.
3. Change the frequency of the monitor.

If these do not fix your issue you may want to look at getting or borrowing a video card and replacing it if this system is a desktop. If this system is a laptop and the above does not fix the issue your best bet would be to put up with it or buy a new laptop to be honest.

in the monitor menu button you will be having a option called "degauss" give that when it appears ...

if you still persist the same problem then there may be some problem in the CRT tube ....

just take your monitor to the technician ...

HI,
Disconnect the monitor from the computer and check if the vertical line still appears on the screen . If yes the monitor needs to be replaced.
Generally all viewsonic screens come with 3 yr warranty and you can call them up for repairs or replacements .

It is a tossup between a bad LCD panel and the logic board. The only way to tell for sure is to change out the logic board or have it tested on another unit. Checkout www.lcdrepair.us for instruction videos on that unit as well as parts.

that's not a firmware issue..your lcd is starting a slow decay to final unhappiness..

you can try the old driver downloader trick, but it's just a matter of time now.
