SOURCE: ice maker stop making ice for kenmore 106.56352500

The ice maker has a problem The ice maker is a separate appliance within the freezer section. Please see the How things Work section of our website to learn about the normal functioning of ice makers. Some common problems with ice makers are:

The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice
The ice maker is producing ice poorly
The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

SOURCE: Ice Maker does not work

My husband repaired our ice maker after our repairman failed to show to replace the entire unit. He removed the front panel and then the next panel fastened by 2 screws. A white plastic piece can be seen as the ice exits the unit, which is poorly designed and literally gets stuck to the left. He slid the piece to the right and vuala! It works. He is looking for a rubber piece or something that will keep the piece pushed to the right, as it seems due to the poor design that this type of malfunction will happen again... good luck!

Ice maker will not eject the ice.

It appears to be a blockage in the ice tray or ice cubes are stuck between the bin and the lever.

Ice maker will not fill with water.

You mean " Why The Water Doesn't Fill the Tray in Kenmore Ice Maker?"
Am i right to your question? Well, Kenmore brand refrigerators often have an ice maker that uses the water supply to create ice inside the freezer compartment. Some models have an ice dispenser on the freezer door for easy access, and others simply create ice and deposit it into a tray inside the freezer. While most ice makers should work well with basic maintenance and care, issues may occasionally arise. One such problem is if the water does not fill the tray to create ice inside the ice maker. Resolving this issue may be possible through some troubleshooting efforts.

1 Remove the ice bin from the freezer.

2 Fill a turkey baster with hot water.

3 Spray hot water from the turkey baster into the tube at the back of the ice maker, which may be frozen or clogged.

4 Repeat spraying water into the tube until the blockage or frost is removed.

5 Replace the ice bin into the unit.

Kenmore 56541 side by side icemaker nor making ice The in door water dispencer works Arm on tray is on no water getting to tray

1.Bad water valve located in the back bottom of refrigerator.
2. Frozen fill tube going into back of ice maker. (common problem)
3. Ice maker not cycling. Pour water into ice maker cavity until near filled.
Wait a few hours and see if it dumps.
4.In rare cases, the switch in the ice maker body fails. Ice maker will cycle but not tell water valve to refill.

No ice...different question

Are you able to see if you can push a Q-tip or something up the fill tube line to see if it's frozen up inside there. It happens on certain units. You may need to take the Ice Maker out (easy) to get to the fill tube.
