I have a Nikon D50 with an error message "CHA"

I tried charging the battery, but it still won't allow me to take a picture.  It worked fine yesterday, but for some reason won't today.  Any ideas as to what that error message means?

TIA !

I have a nikon D70 and it worked fine now i get this same error message CHA and can't get it to work please help

Couple years back got CHA fault coming up now and again...removed card, put it back it, worked for a while...then one day it did not and I ended up reformatting it, losing a few pics in the process.

Card was new and never put into a different camera.

Problem went away for while and is now back and I can't get CHA fault to disappear despite reformatting it, a couple times.

Took it into a shop, we inserted a new SD card, formatted it, but still CHA fault would not got away...so unsure as to what to do next

This error indicates the following:
This card cannot be used (CHR) blinks.
Problem(s)
Error accessing memory card
Unable to create a new folder (on card)
Card has not been formatted for use on D70

Try another card
Format the card using your D70 (all images will be erased)
Check the card for visible damage or poor contacts.

You may have inserted a memory card that was been used in a different camera or the formatting process did not complete successfully.
I hope this helps.

The camera will not snap a picture. I have charged the batteries, so I know that is not it and It has a CHA in the lower right corner of the control panel.

I had the same exact problem. I did some research on this issue. Apparently The D50 will not work with a memory card above 2gb. I swapped my 4gb to the 2gb and solved the issue. Good luck.

Do you mean the camera can't works well with your new Nikon D50 battery? But how about your original battery. Maybe your new battery is not so compatible with your camera so the camera can't recognizes the whole information on the Nikon D50 battery chips.

Nikon D50 Digital Camera. I cannot take a picture, the letters CHA are flashing on the screen.

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't do it, try a different card.

Nikon D50 blinking "Err" message

Make sure the lens is mounted fully (give it a little twist to see if the error clears). Also, check the gold contacts inside the body, where the body touches the gold "points" on the lens, to make sure they are clean. A pencil eraser is a good cleaning device for these contacts. I hope this solves it for you.
