Happened to my 2005 Advantium120 twice, both times after extended cooking/simmering on the cooktop (17" below). Solution was to leave unplugged for a good 48 hours (to dry out?) then plug in again and all is good. GE says to either raise the microwave 4" or stop boiling pasta on the stove, neither a good solution. Good luck!

SOURCE: interior light always on Ge advantium 120

I bet by now your microwave is no longer working....did the bottom or top "hook" finally break off? I found that mine had cracked and started coming loose and so when it closed it was no placing enough pressure on the internal safety switch that tells the oven the door is shut. I was able to use a sturdy plastic glue to solve the problem but finally after about 2 years of fixing it I can no longer get it to bond. Now, I'm looking for a new part. Who makes a product this expensive with plastic parts!!?!??!?!? So frustrating.

The fan on our microwave will not stop running

The circuit board is bad that controls it. try unplugging and waiting and plug it back up and see if that resets, if not I would take it in for repairs

Won't shut off

You may have a problem with a door switch or door switch mount, or there may be a shorted relay on the control board, which can easily be repaired.
Our help file on door switches is here, and the Advantium 120 service manual is here.
You can order GE parts from the Pros here.

Advantium 220V damper door motor clicking

My Advantium 240 damper motor was cycling as mentioned above in the morning after a power failure had occurred. Removing the top vent grille and control panel I could see the inlet damper was opening fully and stopping about halfway closed then retrying. Removing power and cycling by hand, i could move it freely until just before it would contact the micro switch at home position where there was a hard stop. I removed the light assembly on top of the cavity and was able to access the rod that spans across to the outlet damper near the halogen light. A combination of fiddling with the connecting rod inside the light housing and manually cycling the inlet damper reseated the rod and everything was working again. My guess is the power failure was the cause and hopefully the issue won't return.

Advantium 120 blew breaker when door was closed. I reset breaker and it worked for three weeks. Breaker is blown again...when i open the door and reset breaker it works, but as soon as you close the door...

I'd suspect the interlock monitor switch is stuck, or its mounting bracket is out of adjustment. This is designed to blow the fuse if you try to run the oven while the door is open. The switch is supposed to open when you close the door. This switch is replaceable, but you should have this oven repaired by a professional. There are lethal voltages present with the cover off, and the possibility of microwave leakage is the repairs aren't done correctly.

Advantium microwave won't stop.

If it runs when the door is open it's a bad interlock assembly

GE Advantium Microwave section doesn't work.

The primary interlock switch on my Advantium has failed twice. The replacement part is available at: appliancepartspros.com part no. for my Advantium was AP2622452 and it cost $11.74 + $6.95 shipping.

For what it's worth, my nylon connector and wire covering were also scorched a bit but the last primary interlock switch lasted me for over a year.

Please note that I am not an expert at repairing appliances and that I assume no responsibility or liability for any attempt you may make to repair your own appliance.

GE Advantium SCA1000 not heating

That would be 'the primary interlock (top door switch), or its mount may be loose or cracked.

It may be a coincidence, or not. Hard to say.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

But it could be misalignment from the door work. Too bad he didn't just replace the door handle. That's such an easy job.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

It's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.
