Some Sat Navs can't convert, If it's bought & set to UK & Ireland maps, then you are stuck. 2nd thing , even if you can use Europe Maps on your Sat Nav, you still will be unable, to load USA maps.
Sat Nav not compatable, You will have to buy a NEW ONE.

The maps are preloaded. If you want to see what maps are on it press TOOLS (the spanner symbol)
Then press SETTINGS (or LOCALE if your model does not have SETTINGS)
Then press MAPS
Then press MAP INFO
The name of the map installed on your satnav should be shown there

that maps will only updated once in 5 years by google

you will need to update your GPS device , go to garmin's website and look for the new maps for your device.

try going to http://www.amazegps.com I installed it and it wasnt too bad, best improvement on the google maps, just be a bit weary of if you get free web mins on your phone as it could cost you a bit!

need an up grade for my nav-cam

In the Comm Manager, select Settings, then Bluetooth.  Again select bluetooth and then scroll down to your GPS receiver assuming you're paired correctly.  Click Menu and then COM ports.  Now click Menu and select New Outgoing Port.  Pick COM6 assuming you have nothing else on this as your outgoing port.                   Now go back to your map program.  In the GPS settings, select COM6 as your GPS and it should now give your position.  I use google maps and have no bother.
