Don't let your ink levels drop below 25% before refilling and resetting your
cartridges. There is an inner and an outer chip on these cartridges. The inner
chip disables the outer chip when it's contacts are no longer bathed in ink. So,
it doesn't matter if you "reset" the outer chip after refilling your empty
cartridge because the chip was disabled.
But the outer chip is not available in the market hence refilling has to be done before you have used 75% of the ink. Yes you can replace if and only if its not from a empty cartridge
Go to printers and faxes, and uninstall the printer.
reboot, this should solve the problem

no it cannot. Those multi-colored cartridge system requires that you put in every single color, AND ensure that they are not empty before they will print. Even if all you want is a black and white copy.

Try to run the ink pad reset utility software.
Please log on to epson.com. The software runs on win xp and win vista.

hi, the most possible is that your chip on that cartridge is broken or damaged. You may need to replace a new chip.
Or you didn't contact well the chip with printer contact pins. Try many times.
If still problems pls feel free to ask me.

Hi
The
ink reservoir for the black ink doesnt have to be completely empty to fail. Replace the
cartridges. Some of the jets or all of them may be clogged especially if you
have not used your printer in a while. If there are cleaning instructions in
the manual, clean the jets and then try to print from the printer's self test
