RX425 wont scan

It depends somewhat on your OS and the software installed you have installed. With a Automatic Document Feed, the pages need to be face up and the top edge forward in the feeder. On the glass platen, put the documents face down.

Open a TWAIN-compliant scanning application (XP, Vista and Win7 all have Paint which can acquire scans). Vista and Win7 also have Windows Fax and Scan. If you installed other software (such as that which came with the scanner), you would use that - Epson Smart Panel or ArcSoft Photo Impressions. Next open Epson Scan (this doesn't work with the Mac software so look at epson.com for Mac info). This runs the scan (and any specific resolution adjustments you make). It will generally launch when you hit Scan in the application. You can run Epson Scan alone if you do not want to edit the documents right away. Click Start > All Programs > Epson Scan > Epson Scan to use Epson Scan. In the Epson Smart Panel, you would click Scan and Save to start scanning or Scan with Options to adjust the settings prior to scanning.

If the Epson Smart Panel is installed and set up for it (including having a monitor running), you can also initiate scans from the scan button on the unit. Scan problems most often occur when there is a block in two-way communication. Try a new data cable and a different port. If you have a USB hub or print server, try a direct connection. The cable should be under 6' long for best results.

Your wife is right the RX425 is a scanner. There should be a power on button but scanning is started via Epson Smart Panel software or a TWAIN-compliant application eg Photoshop, Office etc

You should be able to install it using built-in drivers of Windows 7, using Windows 7 'Add a printer wizard'

If you have tried this and it does not work then you should refer to Epson, as they claim this is the correct procedure on their website.

You will need to download the Windows Vista version of 'Epson Scan' to enable scanning with your machine, however.

The driver is classed as inbox. An inbox driver is already installed and should install automatically when the printer is connected and powered on. This if the printer driver. You will also need the scanner driver which epson say the Vista version is compatible and can be downloaded from their website.

I have this printer in the attic coz of vista. konica minolta did not bother to create a driver for VISTA. I brought out the 1350w not that i got win 7. still no driver.... i have a feeling there wont be a 1350w driver for win 7. however they have 1400w drivers for vista/7.

the only way you can print with the 1350W is as a remote printer in win virtual pc running xp.

Have a RX425 using with Windows7 the Easy range of software got the printer going but not the scanner! Epson contacted but said no its not supported for Win7 will need a new all in one. Not happy as RX is fully serviceable and happy with it. However I have found that downloading Epson Scan for Vista has worked .... who needs experts :-)

First switch off printer & uninstall everything including the printer drivers. Download the latest software from Epson Support site & reinstall. Link:

trash and reinstall the epson scan software and download latest driver for your devices use this link support.epson.com and download drivers for win vista.

Epson has software called "Epson smart panel" and you can select scan from the list of operations.
Turn your scanner on, (windows OS) click on "start" then click on "all programs", look for epson smart panel in programs list, click and let panel load, then select scan.
It will take some time for the scanner to warm and scan, so be patient, after it is scanned your options are to print, or save. If you save, be sure you know where its filed or "tell" it where to save, I recommend creating a new folder before in "your pictures" titled "scans" . Usually after you do this, it will save it there by default.

Just cracked it, had same prob...printer would print but wouldn't scan
lost original CD...tryed epson downloads but not the older versions...
i needed the 2.6 version
