First of all I would recommend getting the most up to date Windows 7 drivers for the printer from here:

Uninstall the drivers.  Then go onto the HP web site and download the drivers for your model and for your operating system.

download and install the vista drivers for your hp psc 1410 printer from the following website on your laptop:

First choose your printer model, choose your operating system and then download your hp psc1410 driver.

My HP PSC 1410 is not printing and it seems not to have any communication with my computer.

Shows what compatible cartridges that are supported by the HP PSC 1400 series which covers the 1410. You could also go to your local printers or computer store and ask them if there are any others that will work. But better off sticking with the genuine article from HP.
