I really hope someone can help, as this is really starting to annoy me. Aout 5 minutes after turning the TV on the picture suddenly goes black although the sound is still fine. It does the same thing after I turn it off for about a minute adn then turn it on again. I've tried switching channels and the picture is darker for about 5 seconds and then goes black again..... Please someone help, don't know if it's something to do with the settings or a problem with the TV. My sister has exactly the same and hers is fine.... Thanks in advance.

Depending on your electronics skill, they can be replaced with new replacement boards. Usually the inverter boards that drive the backlights tend to blow. Soo its not really an expertise repair unless you know what your doing. The lcd tv's ive fixed the backlights are all on a 2 pin connector.

Try One of your working TVS and connect it to your cable outlet of the TV that is having problems. If that TV Does not work then there may be a degraded fitting or the Leg coming of the splitter to that outlet could have a Low Signal Problem
Next Take the First TV that was not working properly and put it on the cable outlet of one of the TVs that is working properly and if the TV set works on that Channel then you know it is not your TV that it must be the cable

This is a sort of slow start up and it can be a fault in the Power supply as the voltage builds up or in the display drive section where the fault seems the same as a circuit trying to act upon. There is a defined failre but only if the observations of the voltages are taken out and confirmed. http://www.fixya.com/support/r6055091-slow_start_up_circuit_cold_starting
Start with the Power supply and check if the filter and storage capacitors are topped up with the designed voltage, if there is slow build up then check the reason if in the drive for poor swithching or a poor capactior.
Next check the same with the main board , look for IC's getting warm , if so use a freeze it to cool and set the picture to start up therby confirming the IC. repeat check, observe for heat and changes in voltage.respond

The fact that you have no menu or onscreen display, leads me to believe that it is the main logic board. Either the processor ic or the voltages going to the main board are missing. Check to see if the main board is getting 5v and 3.3v to determine if it is your power supply not supplying the voltages or your main board.
