I am getting no spark and cannot figure out how to access the spark plug wire connection. When I removed the rubber insulator on the spark plug connector I find that the "spark plug connector coil" is just stuck into the main large diameter wire. My guess is that the "coil" and the main wire are not making contact because it is not a very solid connection. What can I do?

Change the plug and try it, very cheap insurance.

You may need to use a jumper wire between the threaded part of the plug and the cooling fins. You do not have to bend up the electrode.
Rotating the flywheel in a darkened room with the plug removed and the ignition on may reveal a leaky plug wire. Often a little heat shrink tubing will stop any leaks.
Model "11-600111-06 (02 through 06 suffixes possible) follows:

See the "Powerhead Assembly" item 11; part number 223708-01.
If you determine the coil is bad I found one here:

Ignition module gap
Place a business or index card between the fly wheel and coil, rotate until the magnetic attraction pulls everything tight together. Tighten the coil screws, rotate the flywheel until the attraction eases and remove the card. Ensure nothing contacts when flywheel is rotated.
