Microwave stopped working. No power

I used the micro last night and it seemed to stop before the time required to dethaw hamburger. I did not try again, just removed meat and continued to cook on the stove. I tried to heat milk this morning and there is no power. No lights, no settings work etc. I removed it from the wall, and tested the socket. It is fine. I cannot see if there is a fuse or reset button.

Line Fuse

Every microwave oven has a line fuse. This fuse is designed to blow if too much current is drawn through the microwave circuitry. The fuse can be replaced, but the underlying issue should still be investigated and resolved. Otherwise the new fuse will blow also.
Main Control Board

If the microwave is not working the main control board may be defective. This is not common. When a microwave stops working the problem is usually the line fuse or within the high voltage circuit; either the high voltage capacitor, diode, transformer or magnetron.

Thermal Fuse

If the microwave is not working the thermal fuse may have blown. It can be tested for continuity. Watch our fuse testing video for more information.
Thermoprotector

If the microwave is not working the thermoprotector may have tripped. This is a safety device to prevent the microwave from overheating. It can be tested for continuity to see if it's blown.microwave stopped working. No power - 1_24_2013_4_57_51_pm.gif

SOURCE: microwave stopped working last night

If the microwave worked for a little while after you plugged it in again then it is just overheating. It is usually just dust/dirt collecting on the vents.the fan,and the magnetron(the thing the fan blows on).If cleaning all these doesn't solve the problem you may have a bad high temp overload sensor, and need to replace it.(this sensor is usually mounted directly on the top of the magnetron. The magnetron is the part that actually puts out the microwave signal.I've never seen a reset button. The high temp sensors reset themselves automatically.

Replace the magnetron, safety fuse and diode as a set and check the door interlock switches.
That should get it working for another year or so.
Don't forget microwave mains fuses are special sand filled and semisurge type.

The main fuse in the microwave oven has blown, usually caused by one or two defective door switches.

The stop and start buttons on my HMT t8656gb have stopped working. Can they be replaced or do I have to purchase a new one?

Good evening to you.
I hope the same thing is not happening to you that happened to me.
What happened was that I had the buttons had stopped working because of my impatience for the micro to work.
I thought I would give the micro a rest, disconnected the power and let the micro rest over night. Connected it then to the power and started it like i started it the way I did the first time.
I think it is worth the effort.

Kenmore Microwave Hood Combination: over the stove Model #721.80602500

Disclaimer: I'm a DIYer, not a technician.

Our GE over-the-range microwave stopped producing heat yesterday while warming part of the T-giving feast. Everything else (fan, control panel, light) works fine.

After disassembly and testing last night, I discovered a defective "secondary door switch." Your Kenmore uses a similar switch (~$19 on-line), and that might be the problem. But it also could be other things, such as a bad thermal cut-out.

If you know anyone who's handy with a multimeter, most of the basic diagnostics seem to be pretty straightforward.
