Just tell me how to reset printer into factory settings. I have tried it by LPT1 connection and commands sent from command prompt, but doesn't help. The problem is that printer after print request roll out plenty of labels (empty), consequently onle label full of marks and this is still repeating. I have tried to print windows test page but result still same... Thx Patrik [email protected]

Hey guys, i have followed steps advised by davidjmp, but without success. first 4 labels went slow, but after that the printer started to produce plenty of labels as you can see on the screenshot.

7 - 8 labels are full of nonsencial marks...

To reset the printer.
1) Turn printer off.
2) Hold down feed button whilst turning printer on.
3) Let go of the feed button as soon as it starts to flash and then wait.
4) Printer will measure out 4 labels then print out a Hex dump ending with a not to "Push Feed to Exit"
5) Push feed

Follow the above instructions, if you mess around tapping the feed button (not following the above) you can change the printer between line mode and page mode. To swap that back is another storey.

    Okay Patrik,

the first 4 labels that come out slowly are the printer measuring the size of the labels. This is normal - this far!

The next thing that happens is a printer hex dump. This is normally a couple of pages ending with

    "Now in Dump"

    "Press Feed to exit"

If the printer stopped printing by itself then (love your photo above) you should push the feed button to exit dump and all would hopefully be okay. The Hex Dump is a memory dump and the length could be determined by the amout of data stored in it's flash RAM.

If not okay the other posibility (doesn't look like it from the screen shot but worth a try) is that it is not in the mode you need. The printer has two modes, line mode and page mode.

    To swap between modes

        Turn printer power off.
Press and hold the feed key, then turn power back on.
When light starts to flash, release finger from feed key.
When light starts to flash again, press and hold the feed key until the light turns red (or amber), then release finger from feed key.
Wait for light to turn solid and press feed key once.

This procedure alternately switches you between line mode and page mode. Depending on the software you are using you will need the printer in one of these two modes

I hope this helps, if not you have tried about all you can do and will need to return to place of purchase for reprogramming / repair, hopefully under warranty.

            David

Cannot print from command prompt - Epson U220D Windows 7 32-bit New parallel port with driver New centronix to parallel cable Epson driver APD_455dE (I was using Windows 7 64 bit with a...

The Epson works fairly well with XP. It is to be connected to
a parallel port, usually LPT1
using an IEEE certified parallel printer cable. The computer BIOS
setting is best set for standard parallel port, SPP, bi-directional port
or similar. If possible, do not set it to ECP or EPP or ECP & EPP.

The only native driver for the printer is on the Windows CP CD. Install
using the Add Printer wizard.

The Epson LQ-860 drivers, and a few others, can be used. Using these
drivers, you will discover that the printer actually has some resident
fonts (in printer ROM) that are not accessible from the Stylus
driver. However, with this driver, graphics printing quality is
compromised.

Windows 9x drivers _cannot be used_.

Let us know.

My printer dont print

Hi

The first thing to check is the cable replace and try to print. If still the printer does not respond then you can check to make sure the port on your computer is working. If you are connecting to a USB port then try to use a pen drive etc., to make sure its working. If connected to LPT then try to go to DOS mode in the Command prompt try to give the command as C:> DIR>LPT1 this should print a list of files on the root directory of C: if this is printed then the problem may be with your application.

Try to make sure of the printer is set to be used as off-line or Pause printing.

Hi, details below for creating a ersistent connection from LPT1: to you \\computer\\printername printer. Do the following on the other workstation that is not printing.

Use the net.exe command to establish a persistent connection.

To do this, use the following syntax at a command prompt:

net use lpt1 \\printserver\sharename /persistent:yes

where printserver is the print server that is sharing the printer, and where sharename is the name of the printer share.

For example, to map LPT1 to a printer shared as Laser1 on a print server that is named Pserver, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3. Type net use lpt1 \\pserver\laser1 /persistent:yes, and then press ENTER.
4. To quit the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER.

Note In Windows XP, non-administrative users cannot map an LPT port to a network printer path when the LPT port exists on the computer as a physical parallel port.

How do I restore factory settings to a zebra barcode printer LP-2844-Z

The ^default command has been added to the EPL2 commands, starting in firmware version 4.39. This command will set the printer back to factory settings as long as the printer is in page mode. The command is not supported in line mode at this time. The command is case sensitive.
Syntax: ^default.
You can send the command to the printer via the parallel or serial port.
Parallel:
Open command prompt (DOS prompt) See windows instructions for details.
At the prompt type:
ECHO ^default>LPT1 <enter>
Serial:

Need help installing the firmware for an HP LJ p3005n. I have the download, and the printer is locally connected *USB*

David,

As per the instructions from HP for windows systems:

If the device is shared on the network, then the following command can be issued from a command prompt: copy /b FILENAME \\SHARENAME\PRINTERNAME
where FILENAME is the name of the .RFU file,SHARENAME is the name of the machine, from which the printer is being shared, and PRINTERNAME is the printer's share name.
If the device is attached locally, then the .RFU file can be sent directly to the printer with a COPY command from a command prompt or DOS window:
copy /b FILENAME PORTNAME
where FILENAME is the name of the .RFU file and PORTNAME is the name of the appropriate device port (such as LPT1).
The following can be set on the computer to help address a timeout message that may occur during an update:
From a command prompt or DOS window type the following command and press the enter key:
Mode lpt1:,,p
If the device is attached to a parallel port other than LPT1, then substitute the proper LPT port number in the MODE command. Once this command has been set the file can then be copied to the printer with the above mentioned COPY command.
NOTE: When the upgrade process has completed the LaserJet will reboot. Once the printer is back online, print a Configuration Page and verify that the new firmware has been installed.

Printing from Dos Prompt

1. Save your text file (.txt).

2. On the command prompt navigate to that directory

3.Type "Lpr -S 192.168.1.200 -P lp text.txt"

Substitute 192.168.1.200 for your copier's ip

Substitute text.txt to filename.

Or you can: to print from MS-DOS apps.

1. Share the printer on a networked windows computer. Make sure you make the name MS-DOS compatible.

2. At a DOS prompt, type the following command:
"net use lpt1: \\servername\printer_share/persistent:yes"

NOTE Servername=computer name

printer_share=printers share name
