These are notorious for the door boot leaking. Look for any tears, rips, pinholes in the door boot. Also make sure the door is parallel with the machine. Most likely it's the boot. Parts about 100.00. Labor can run from 110-140 depending where you go.
If the unit leaks during use with a constant drip from the 6 o'clock location between the seal and the glass on the door the solution is to change tha door seal. it is quite difficult to do I would recommend you call a local service company.
If your washer has a rubber seal around the inside of the door and it has a little opening where the detergent comes into the washer put your hand inside the rubber piece and feel all the way around and see if you feel any holes or cracks in it and that is where it will leak from.
Your question is: Your Kenmore elite has been leaking from the door. How can you fix this problem?
First we need to know how old it is. If it's still under warranty then let the warranty repairman worry about it. If beyond warranty there are a few things you may be able to check.
Have you recently changed d/w detergent lately? Too much or the wrong kind can cause leakage.
Does the door gasket still seal perfectly? Can be easily replaced.
Is the d/w perfectly level? I mean right left, front back and up down. This one's a little harder to correct. You would have to remove the bottom kick plate and adjust the four legs just right. Some d/w's have wheels for back legs allowing movement over time. To properly level you will have to put small wood shims under them to prevent this from happening again. There is nothing more that you as homeowner can do. If it is still leaking then you need to consider whether repair or replacement is more cost efective. You might try utilizing our Repair Directory to find a repairman.
