SETTING UP A BROADBAND CONNECTION
First you need to decide what type of broadband and Internet service you require and these are -
1. DSL that uses your existing telephone line.
2. Cable that uses a cable service and can include a cable TV service.
3. A wireless 3G network uses the mobile/cell phone network and can be separate or combine with your cell phone account. This type of Internet connection uses an USB wireless device shaped like an USB memory stick.
Note - Combined services generally offer discount pricing and may include a modem/wireless router.

If you use a wireless router with the DSL or Cable Internet service then your laptop with a wireless card can then connect to the Internet. You can also connect to a free WiFi hot spots like McDonalds, Star Bucks, the Airport etc. using the wireless card in your laptop.
If you use the wireless 3G wireless broadband service, then you can access the Internet anywhere where your ISP has 3G wireless coverage. You need to check the service coverage area where you need Internet service.
Once you decide what type of broadband your require, then you need to check with the various Internet Service providers to see if they can offer and the cost of the various plans.
Note the download limits and the associated additional costs if you exceed the monthly download limits. Once you sign up with a Internet Service provider, their documentation will include setting up instructions and/or installation CD.

Broadband is what kinda way to connect internet

"Broadband" is usually used as a synonym for "high-speed." The FCC, for example, defines "broadband" as a connection speed of at least 25 Mbps. Here are some common broadband connection types in the U.S.:
https://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/types-broadband-connections

Originally, broadband meant transmission using multiple frequencies/traffic types. The opposite was baseband, where only one channel of transmission in on a wire. Ethernet, for example, is a baseband transmission. (Ever seen flavors of Ethernet described using 100-BaseTX or 1000-BaseLX? The "Base" is short for "baseband.") But you would really only use broadband in that way if you were having an engineering discussion about transmission technologies.

You can make use of any of the browsers. That shouldnt be a problem. I would prefer Opera :-) . If you have a firewall installed on your system, please check if the yahoo website has been blocked.
Also go to Internet Options on your webbrowser and under Security tab check if the website has been added to Restricted websites.

Instaling broadband stick?

Welcome to FixYa! Based on your question, you have a few options:
- If your broadband stick came with a self-installation cd, you just have to insert the cd to your pc then wait for the program to respond. Do not plug-in yet the broadband stick unless specified by the cd. The program will give you a step by step procedure on how to install it. - If in case it does not have its own installation cd, then it will vary on what kind of broadband stick you have for the way to install them will vary. Since I don't know the brand of your broadband stick I'll just provide you basic steps on how to install it.
  • Plug-in the broadband stick to your pc.
  • Wait for the program to respond. Once the broadband stick has been detected an install wizard will show up. Just follow the steps on the wizard by clicking next and by accepting the agreement. This will lead you into the part where it would connect your internet and it will tell you if you have successfully installed it.
  • If it does not respond, you could go to the hard drive and search for your device. Once you found it, open the file, look for install.exe and double click on it. Then follow the same procedure given.
  • Once your done with the installation wizard, your pc will restart and it will tell you if the broadband has been successfully been installed and if its working properly.
Hope this helps! Thank you for using FixYa!
