Yes, the only other thing I would do and you may have done this is to put the hose directly over in the washer tub and turn the water on to check the flow. If that's good then replace the water valve.

SOURCE: Kenmore 80 series Model 110.28812790 - water leak inside tub

It's quite possible. First see the Sears parts list for your washer with diagrams of all major parts.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=+110.28812790&pathTaken=partSearch

Then see the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service manual for these washers and check the troubleshooting section.

Need a part number for the inlet valves Y splitter I have a Kenmore side by side. I found the part on the Kenmore drawing but it doesnt have a part number. The Sears "Chat with Me" guy couldnt find it...

Without the model number for the unit, it is hard to tell but my bet is, the part you need is part of the whole inlet line. You need to order that tubing to get the part.

The problem here is the inlet valve, It has a piece of calcium stuck in the valve. The way to fix this would be replace the valve. Since you did not provide a model number I can't give you the part number. Click HERE to order appliance parts.

My washer overflows. it wont stop putting water

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (110.########) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

(The 110 means that it was manufactured by Whirlpool, you also need to enter the 8 digit model number)

Also see the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service Manual for these washers.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

It has testing procedures as well as a good description of how the washer works.

It sounds like a defective water level switch or water inlet valve.

See the following for how to release the console and cabinet on these machines in order to get to the switch for testing.

http://www.american-appliance.com/catalog/newsdesk_info.php?newsPath=16&newsdesk_id=131

Basically, what happens is:

When the washer is turned on, the water inlet switch is closed allowing water to flow thru the inlet valve. When it senses that the machine is to the level selected by the water level dial, the switch opens shutting the inlet valves.

If the switch or valve is defective, water will continue to enter the machine.

The Whirlpool Service Manual has testing procedures (basis continuity tests with a multimeter) for both the switch and valve.

Kenmore washer fills with hot and cold water on but does not stop unless I shut the hot water off at the spigot, cold shut off fine.

More than likely, this is caused by a bad hot water solenoid on the water inlet valve. You will need to replace the valve in order to correct the problem. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575881-replacing_water_inlet_valve_on_whirlpool

This is a simple and inexpensive repair. The average cost of a new inlet valve is about $30-$35.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

the inlet water valve has a screen on the inlet in the valve which is probably clogged - replace the inlet water valve with a new one, install a ice maker water filter in the water line feeding the ice maker!

Cold water good for a few minutes then slows to a trickle. Shut off for a few hours and cold water good again for a few minutes. Inlets are clear. Is this normal behaviour for a dying valve?

Yes, it will fail soon. it is beat to go ahead a order a new inlet valve assembly asap. the pressure sensors that are housed in the valve assembly are failing.

Water inlet valve Kenmore dishwasher

Okay handy Mike,

First of all, is this a new dishwasher? Or, is it a used one? The reason I ask is because there should be a warranty with a new appliance and you should not have to worry, or have to pay for, any repairs.

The problem you are experiencing could very well be a water inlet valve problem (good assessment), but may also be something more simple. The dishwasher has a float inside the tub that is supposed to shut the water off, when it reaches the appropriate fill level. Check the float to make sure it moves up and down and that you can hear the switch "clicking". Sometimes small items get stuck under the float and will keep in the up (or shut off position).

For some helpful part locator drawings refer to searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number. An illustration of the water inlet valve can be found under the "Frame" heading in the next page as item number 24 (part number 154195301). The float and float switch can be found under the "Tub" heading as items number 13 (part number 154144301) and 24 (part number 5300809863), respectively.

If you require further assistance, please let me know. I hope its something simple and you don't require parts. But, if you do, you know where you can get them. If you do not wish to order on line, use the part numbers provided and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. I hope this helps you. Good Luck.
