If you are using your original charger and you noted that your battery is not charging, just to be sure you can take it to any qualified service center where someone with an electronic tester can verify the output of your charger/adapter. If it is OK, you may have a problem in the electricinput system of your tablet or the battery . Some tablets don't have user-servicable batteries so in this case you should need a repair service. I'm not sure if Galaxy tab has removable battery. If it has, change it.
Get battery out,,,,reinstall & try to power on minimum for 10 seconds

Hold the up and down button and Power on for10 seconds and that should cause the Galaxy 3 to reset. Work for me.

Most likely that it's faulty. Sometimes it takes awhile before it charges itself, specially it you drained. But if you left it plugged in for a day and still nothing happened then I think it's gone dead.
Try the following though and see if it helps.
1. Press and hold the power for about 10-15 seconds. or
2. Press and hold the power and the Volume up or Volume down at the same time for about 10-15 seconds.
If nothing happens then I suggest you send your tab for a repair.
Hope it helps.

It sounds to me like you have an issue with your Galaxy Tab's charging port.
Fortunately it is still under warranty if you've just recently purchased it.
Take it back to the store or contact Samsung for a warranty replacement. They may be able to help you recover items from the memory.
Hope this helped!
Thanks!

You can damage the battery but it is very rare to actually do that. What you need to do is plug it in to the wall charger and leave it alone over night. At that point it should be just fine. it will actually start to show some signs of life after a few hours but don't be tempted to do anything wih it. it will first show a charge light or something after maybe 40 minutes if it is a faster charger.
If it shows no life the next day then you can try charging again but at this point you may hae a problem that requires either a battery replacement or warrenty. The battery has a microcontroller on it and when the battey gets real low they do not behave that well and typically you get the stone dead brick behaviour. And most people do not let it charge long enough to get it working. It is possible that there are other problems but those are usually moore serious and require replacement of the unit. The battery can be replaced but requires the etire case to be disassembled.
So charge it then check your warrenty and it may need serious repairs or to be replaced. If it is out of warrenty then you need to be careful on the cost verses replaceemn
