Stepmill 7000 wont regulate speed

I have a stepmill 7000 that I can not regulate speed, it seems to grab momentarily then keeps speeding up until you cant keep up

Check the blue wire to the alternator. Check all connections. the blue wire is the tach wire. no tach signal and you cant climb fast enough!

Randomly speeds up

My stepmill has no resistance on the steps. It goes full speed with out turning it on a program

you prob have bad alt. brushes. on the back of the alt. there is a small access panel where the brushes are located. they wear out over time and need to be replaced every yr or so

Will not speed up

ensure all wiring connections are tight . go through your manual and verify all settings for your machine. make sure the console is programed for the stepmill and not another machine as this console is used on many other types of machines .check the console keys by entering the appropriate code from the manual to ensure a key is not "stuck" and all are ok. if still an issue then check your alternator by entering the appropriate code into your console from the manual

When my wife uses stairmaster 7000 on level 20 the stairs barley move 118 pounds when I use level 20 it seems to be working properly 210 pounds

just check the speed of unit if she goes faster than when she was on level 17-or 19 it is ok
if not calibrate the tension but i think it is always feels like this
