My photosmart is only 2 years old, hardly ever used and always sits on my desk in a charging dock. Now it will not flash, only saying "flash charging".
A friend suggested that by never letting the battery drain it may not hold enough charge to flash and a new battery might fix it. I bought one and it did not change anything. Everything else works and I can take a photo in outdoor lighting without a flash.
BTW... when I called Hewlett Packard tech dept., I was connected to India and was told I could trade this in and buy another......fat chance of that...EVER! ...Hewlett Packard will never get another dime from this customer
HP wont get your money for another camera period- the have dropped cameras from their line up- in the UK any way.
The precise reason for the non function of the flash is not immediately fathomable - but it is likely non use ,the capacitor that triggers the flash in a full state and not having been discharged could have 'killed' it.
As with pretty well all low end digital camera s'repair' is not an option, only replace.
So off you go and buy a new one- if it is flash you need- but perhaps you can live without it.
So often you see folk using their camera swith the flash popping off when in fact non was needed.

Thank you for taking the time to write. I am hoping to hear more opinions if there are any out there. I used this camera infrequently but I did use it primarily with a flash indoors. It also cost almost $400.00 as a package 2 years ago and hoped that this can be repaired reasonably.
