New video card installed, now monitor won't work.

Hi, I recently had a video card problem, I bought a new one and installed it. I had some issues with the installation because the monitor kept going to sleep, due to the damaged card so I took it to the geek squad at my local best buy. They were able to install the new card, delete the old drivers and get things working. It was installed into the same location using the same VGA type cable, and worked at Best Buy with their monitor.   When I got the computer home and plugged the monitor in, the monitor goes to sleep.  I get a message on the monitor when I push the setup button saying check video cable.  I just bought a new one to be safe, and the monitor is still not working.

  • no OS stated. windows 10? what? why must beg.
  • did you turn off all sleep and hibernate in your power manager
  • click CP, click power settings click custom power profile and set all that to OFF, do not turn off screen ever. XP to now.
  • did you look in this CP control panel, DM monitor list>?
  • see my monitor, its there and not bad, if it shows bad .
  • if f1903 is missing there then your OS does not support it.
  • Right click it (internet must be connected) and say up date driver and let W10 find your driver for your OLD monitor.
  • Did you know MS drops old hardware that the maker does not support now? this is all in the PnP rules sets. but on monitors there are magic tricks to fool the system if true. this.

New video card installed, now monitor won't work. - vga-eqk4kg0rieheuxmlwixke1cc-1-0.jpg does your monitor work on others PC, with same OS

last and best
ever call up BIOS?
boot pC and hit the BIOS key, called BIOS settings menus.
(HP F1,F9,10, or ESC) hint , it prompts you at boot.
does that work? omg it does so VGA is ok. right. 99% sure.
all in 5min work. you see it works
and then dies in windows x (what ever your X is)
if it dies in windows, here is the cause, (all causes)

VGA card is not bad, or overheated. bios works
1: windoz is virus infected tops that list. endless, to a fault.
2: PNP to dead, it plug and played, and killled the monitor driver or vGA driver, (less much less in w10,)
3: bad video drivers. (if hp get them from HP !)
4: internet dead, cant run PNP with no internet. not and win.
5: newer system DT< with expensive video cards the power jack cables fell off (this is only on high powered DT, like a Ausu M5a90x.
5b same deal video fan dead. overheated now.
6: PC goes to sleep, and is not anything to do with WINDOWS sleep
did you know the CPU has a sleep mode, it shuts down overheated.
some GPU do the same using the same magic hidden electronics in the GPU

if you had told what PC it was, id not have to broad band my answers. im sure i missed more,,, lacking
PC tag words.
or OS name and build.

SOURCE: Can't see screen to install diver for HP Compaq WF 1907

My friend just purchase this monitor yesterday. When she plugged it in to the back of the tower she received the same prompt u have mentioned. I was able to repair it because she simply did not realize that I had installed a new graphics card into her pc a few months ago. When u do this, you have to hook your monitor into the area where the new graphics card was installed. You can not plug your monitor into the same onboard card that u have previously plugged your monitor into.
Let me know, if by chance, u did install a new graphics card.
Hope this was helpful :)

SOURCE: Going to Sleep

Due to the power surge, it is highly possible that the monitor was given a boot by your computer on it's way out.

This will short out a very small transistor inside the monitor on the video board and in turn, then monitor cannot see that there is a signal so goes to sleep.

If you get brave enough to venture inside the screen, then check near the cable input. The transistors are only around 3mm and have 3 legs (two one side and one in the middle on the other).

If you find anything like that burnt (get a magnifying glass) then replacing the board is the easiest option. Just don't be tempted to wipe the board before you look at everything very closely, you may wipe away the tiny bit of evidence you are looking for.

Hope it helps =)

SOURCE: My monitor when powered up gives me a no input

Hey Beth

Sounds like you are in a bit of trouble!

Based on what you've told me, it looks like it might be a video card fault. However, a few things to check first are..

Make sure the VGA & DVI are secured tightly in to their slots, especially on the monitors as gravity can sometimes be a pain!

Use different cords, rather than the original ones you use. This is to eliminate the the point that the cords may be the issues.

And last to know whether it's the monitor or not.. check and use your monitors on another PC. If they go, then it is a hardware fault in your PC, sometime things can come lose and problems can occure espeically with older PCs as they die out. Much like a older car wears down, so do the parts of a PC.

The suggestion I then give you is to pop it in to a Computer Shop, let me test it for a half hour fee and see what they recommend. Possibly it could let on to getting a new graphics card, for a basic one it's no that costly and could solve your problems easily. Or.. it might in fact be a motherboard fault... It's hard to tell, unless you get hands on with it, and test and elimate the causes.

Well, all I can say is good luck, and hopefully you find the issue. Besides, buying something new is always a good thing, so perhaps it's time you upgraded anyway? =D

I hope I've been able to assist you.

Do we need a new graphics card for a monifor that is going to sleep? The monitor (an HP that came with the computer) doe not work and wonder if a new card will correct the problem.

Hi there,

Your monitor does not have graphics origination hardware so much as input recognition of the video card in your computer tower.

Borrow a monitor from a friend and see if your computer displays normally on it. If it does, you need a new monitor. If it doesn't, your computer needs a new video card or has other motherboard issues.

It's just that simple.

does your motherboard identify your new video card? make sure to put the new video card on the right slot. then check all the cables which is connected on your monitor going to the tower. make sure to connect the vga cable of the monitor to your new video card. try to power on computer and install the video card driver which comes with your new video card.

Monitor screen turns off new monitor new video card had problem

If you've replaced the monitor with a new one, it's probably not a monitor problem. Try uninstalling the video card and use the motherboard's on-board video. If that's not working, check into getting a new motherboard. If it works fine, check the settings on your video card.

The Monitor Does Not Open Using My New Video Card

That is clear indication that you have a bad graphics card. Try to look for a pencil eraser and use it to clean the gold pins on your graphics card. I hope this helps. If your card still doesn't work, its probably defective.

I can't get monitor to come on even though the power light is on

Since it's a new card and you know it's working, install it last. Take it out for now and use the integrated video. Start the computer, enter the BIOS setup and disable the integrated video. Save the new settings and shut off the computer. Then put in the new video card and restart.

New monitor

If you just bought this monitor take it back and get a different one. If you still have the same problem after that, then you have a video card issue.
