SOURCE: Internet connection dies when phone rings

There are a number of tests you can perform to find the problem unhook all the phones in your house and then call to see if it still does it. If it doesnt it may be one of your phones. If it does check the wiring in the jacks and make sure the wires are not backwards in any of them. If they all appear to be fine there maybe a problem at the pole or box whichever the company has installed in your neighborhood. Once you have determined that none of the above is present its not your fault and the providing internet company should not charge you to come out and check the outside lines. It can be as simple as a little short in the wire especially if its underground.

You may also wanna locate the phone box on the outside of your home and see if it disconnects when connected to there.

The box Outside Should Look Like This

And You'll Need To Disconnect All Of The Lines From These Plugs And Then Plug Your Internet Directly Into One Of Them. This Will Disconnect All The Phone Lines In The House. Now Place A Call To Your Home Via Cell Phone Or Have A Friend Call And If It Doesn't Disconnect Your Internet The Problem Is In The House.
If It Still Does Its The Phone Company's Problem And You'll Need To Call Them To Fix The Problem.

If This Does Not %100 Solve Your Problem Let me Know And I Will Continue Further Trouble Shooting With You.
Sincerely,
Michael Scott

Telecom Issue, when a Netgear router (DG834G) linked to a small server unit, dissconnects the telephone line. The router works fine but no dial tone on the phone side of the micro filter. Any assistan

a POTs (plain old telephone) line should never be connected to a router. that adsl filter does not make a phone line share a data line.
ADSL is a type of internet service supplied over a phone line. think of it as raw (unusable) when its on the phone line. then you use your dsl filter/splitter to feed the raw internet into a special dsl modem and the other port can be used by a standard phone.

you will know a dsl modem when you see it because its uplink or internet port will only be big enough to fit a phone cord into, not an internet cord. these dsl modems then feed usable internet to your routers and all devices on your network. but, like i said before, at this point it is too late for your phone and internet to share the same wire.

OK, thats not entirely true

1,2,3+6 are used in a typical network

if your network is typical you can "get fancy" and use 4,5,7+8 for telephone or even put 2 data lines on the same wire (not recommended for long distances). however, this may involve cutting some wires and splicing them together or something.

Cannot remember my w-f password

If you lose or forget your password, you can usually get it from your modem or your Internet service provider.
  • 1 Look on your modem. This is the box that your Internet service provider gave you when your Internet service was installed. Some Internet Service providers put your wireless password directly on the box along with your user-name. A modem may or may not be separate from a wireless router, which sends out the wireless signals. If you have two boxes and are unsure which is which, look at both.
  • 2 Call your Internet service provider if you cannot find a password on the modem. You can also try online customer service through your service provider's website if you are able to get Internet access apart from your wireless connection.

  • 3 Talk to a customer service representive and ask to retrieve your password. You may be required to change it. Be prepared to provide security information that the service provider has on file, such as your Social Security number, phone number, address or another personal security question.

How do I find my pass work for wifi

If you are using AT&T as your internet service provider the password might be on the side or bottom of the Modem/Router of theirs. Look for something called Network Key or Network Password/Passphrase.

If it's a wireless router you purchased and installed then you will need a network cable to go from the router into the pc. If you have a desktop it might already have the network cable going from the router to the desktop then use the desktop. You'll need to get into the router's configuration. To do that you'll have to open up internet explorer then type the router's ip address into the browsers address area where you would normally type www. Normally the router's ip address will be something like 192.168.1.1 Once you are into the router the configuration interface will come up. It will ask you for the userid and password. Most times people leave these set as the default that came with it. Once you're in, go to the wireless and wireless security tabs and there you'll see your SSID (the network you connect to) and the Password.

If you don't know the router's ip address, userid or password, you can go to www.google.com and type in the manufacturer's name and support. For example if you have a Netgear Router type "Netgear Support" . On their site for your model number they will have a manual that you find find the info you need. In addition to the 192.168.1.1 type of ip address, Netgear also had something like Netgear.routerlogin

You can also just google "Netgear router ip address" put your router model in between Netgear and router to scale down the search.

You can also do the same thing to find the default userid and password. Just google "Netgear Router userid or Password".

    I forgot my internet password

    Hello
Type your network IP address, like 192.168.2.3 or 154.345.2.4 like that, you will have a network IP address of your own. Contact your internet service provider to know about this IP address. Type it on the addtess bar of your browser, even if you don't get internet access. Press "Enter" button. The confuguration menu of your modem will appear after few seconds, and you can select the password option and reset it. OK.
