My machine is only 13 weeks old and I have the same problem. The company told me that if I had a service man come and they found something in the pump then it was our fault; if it is found to be manufactures problem then warranty would cover. I can't even find where a how to on the pump or its location on the machine to look and see if something is blocking it? I've turned off several times and turned on to no avail, I have also emptied the water out and looked around to see nothing blocking? My model is the IWL16

Can press button until it goes to spin and after several attempts at his washer will drain and start spinning. Removed hose on pump last night and 2 coins fell out but still not working

I had the same problem. The machine was not draining. I drained the water tipped the machine on its face and exposed the pump. As you face the bottom of the pump there is a plastic lever on the left hand side of the pump. Depress the lever and turn the pump assembly counter clocwise to remove. In my machine I found a piece of a toothpick and a bit of cellophane. Enough to stop the pump impellor. Aside from draining the water it took me an hour to figure this out. Next time it will be 5 minutes!
Good Luck

We had same problem. Error Code 37 (drain / pump). We followed the instructions re. turn off, restart ... but the issue remained. The tub would not drain when it came to the drain cycle. Gave up and decided on a service call at the end of the weekend.
Woke up the next morning and the tub had "mostly" drained. Weird. Did a bit of reading on these fixit sites and decided the housing and hoses were simple enough to get to.
Bailed out the tub best we could, disconnected main water hoses, drain hose and electric cord and tipped over outside (even with the bailing a lot of water still in there). The pump and hoses are easy to get at once it is tipped on its side.
Removed the hoses WITH CLIPS...i.e. the ones that can be / should be removed to see if there is a block. Nothing. Then removed the "Y" valve below the pump that (electronically) opens and closes depending if it is draining the tub or recycling water back up into the tub. That's where our problem was. Right in the middle next to the valve was something stuck between the wall and the valve preventing the valve from closing from the recycle hose to the drain hose. Got tweezers and removed a piece of seashell. Put it back together and it works just like new.
The pump and fittings are pretty easy to figure out if you go slow and think. The pump itself is as simple as lifting a white plastic clip and twisting the whole pump off to get a look at the impeller and housing. Good luck!

Error code 37 - we were all ready to check the pump using mzlacey's advice when we turned the washer over discovered a plastic bag had gotten stuck underneath. Removed the bag and the washer is now working perfectly! Thanks for advice.

Does the water pump out ? If you have a blocked pump then NO water will flow out of the drain hose - Here is how to test the PUMP. Turn Washer on at the wall. When the front panel lights all go out, hold down WASH TEMP DOWN button while pressing POWER. Release both. Then pour a bucket of water into the bowl. Now press REGULAR button. The pump should start and pump out the water if OK. Turn POWER off and then ON to resume normal operation.

GWL11 - Error 37 - Faulty Pump only or Computer/Controller too?

Hi just read your posting. If you are getting error code 37 then the fault is definitely your drain pump.If the pump is getting very hot, it is faulty. What happens is when the pump gets hot the thermal fuse that is part of the windings on the pump opens to stop it burning.I have seen this fault many times and always changed the pump.Hope this helps but please reply for further help.Looking forward to your reply.

I have a gwl15 Fisher Paykel Smart Drive and it will not get past the rinse cycle, water will not drain out! I found the diagnostic mode sheet and the number I come up with is none of the fault...

Hi - it would seem the washer pump may actually be blocked for some reason... If you had followed the method as per the diagnostics then if you reckon you got 35 then its a communications error beween the console & display. Furthermore you would be able to mannually start the pump in diagnostic mode to see if its working fine.. But under normal cond..... the machine would come up with a pump error & code 37 - so perhaps it is ok.

Remedy - check the harness wire connections between the display & the controller unit is good - clean - otherwise replace the display unit to correct.

On the error codes - there is a Code 35 - just that its not available to the public - it was only ever issued on a DVD sent to the service agents - have never actually seen it on the secure service site.

See how you go....

Screen has code 37 on it

Hi, welcome!
Code 37 is a "pump blocked error" code. Typically this code is triggered when the machine does not sense a change in the water level when called for. Check for debris caught in the pump, either in the impeller for moving water or in some cases, the external cooling fan impeller (exposed underneath the machine) gets snagged with a piece of fabric softener sheet (such as "bounce") and this will stall the pump and trigger a code 37.

I hope you find this info useful and thanks for using Fixya.

What can I do and what part do I need to replace? I have taken it apart and clean it but still won't pickup the water.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Bissell 9500 ProHeat 2X Clean Shot Upright. It sounds to me that you may have a clog or an obstruction or the channel to the suction motor per say might be broken and is not creating the suction needed to pickup the water to the recovery tank. So check with your local factory authorized vac dealer that carries and services Bissell. I will give you the Bissell factory phone # listed below for further questions. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
